vacuum leaks can make booster loose power assist. if pedal intermediately hard to push the booster might be bad. if the pedal goes to the floor and you dont have brakes might be the master cyl
sounds like break caliber is sticking it will be on one side. it is not releasing. there will probably be brake dust on your wheel on the bad caliber good luck
MOST OF THE TIME WHEN A CALIBER LOCKS UP: IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE CALIBER BEING BAD. THE CAUSE IS THE RUBBER BRAKE LINE GOING TO THE CALIBER IS BAD INSIDE OF THE RUBBER HOSE. ONCE YOU PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL YOU PUSH FLUID INTO THE CALIBER ONCE YOU RELEASE THE PEDAL THE FLUID DOES NOT ALL RETURN TO THE MASTER CYL. THE HOSE IS OLD AND THE RUBBER IS BUSTED INSIDE OF THE HOSE AND THE FLUID IS STAYING INSIDE OF HOSE AND HOLDING PRESSURE ON THE CALIBER. I HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME AND NEEDLESS TO SAY IT COST ME AROUND $500.00 TO HAVE IT FIXED AFTER I REPLACED CALIBER, ROTOR AND BRAKES.
Your brake caliper or your brake hardware is sticking. Pull it apart(two bolts) and push the caliper back in with a spreader or a c-clamp. The grease the brake hardware(where the bolts go in). That might do the trick. If you have a hard time getting the caliper peston back in then you need to replace it and bleed the brake system.
shift lock not releasing and holding it in gear, check fuses, sometimes theres a switch on the brake pedal, that releases it from Park when you put your foot on the brake
Replace both calipers, much easier..... your description indicates to me that your left caliper is hanging ON, overheating and when brakes are applied, the right caliper (not overheated) is more efficient than the left one......
ALL brake work must happen to BOTH SIDES, on that axle set, every time (meaning both front or both rear). Anything else just makes problems
When you press on the brake? Have your brake vacuum assist checked. It,s that bigspaceship looking thing between the brake master cylinder an firewall. good luck and be safe.
check 2 things first one is their is a plastic check valve that is inserted into the booster (under your hood) then goes to a vaccum line ,then to the engine, pull it out of the booster and check the valve it should be L - shaped. it might have a hole in it causing a vaccum leak. be carefull pulling it out not to break it just pull straight out. if that is ok put it back in. then your problem is going to be the brake booster the big black round case. sometimes the diaphram inside the booster rips causing a vaccum leak which causes a hard brake pedal and you have to stand on the pedal to stop. then you will have to repace the whole thing but not the master cylnder unbolt master cylder with the brake lines connected, the lines will give then disconnect brake pedal arm under dash inside of trk their should be 2 nuts or 4 buts under dash on inside of firewall near brake pedal then remove booster pulls out from under hood. there is not much to replacing them.
