Check the brake lamps and insulating grommet for secondary O2 sensor wire
also check for the codes (if ELD or secondary O2 sensor heaters are suspects)
Also disable aftermarket alarm (if so equipped)
My 05 1.6 petrol Ghia is showing Engine System Fault. I parked it at home the other week and it wouldn't turn over. Have been out to check relays etc, changes coil pack, plugs and ht leads and now it doesn't do anything when trying to turn the engine over. Any advice would be helpful because I'm not mechanically/ electrically minded so haven't a clue. It had a new fuel pump fitted in April so I assume I can discount that?
unfortunatly this is extremely common on saturn s series vehicles
i have 10 years experience with saturns and the only way to fix it for good is to replace the engine
at the saturn dealer we would attempt this fix several different ways engine rebuilds with new pistons, rings, bearings, etc.
we also put used engines in them-sometimes it would work-it always depended on how old and how many miles the used engine had o it. my advice is to either get rid off the car before the engine locks up or religiously check the oil once a week
i had a 2002 corolla that burned 4 qts of oil a week but still got 33 mpg,i kept oil in it and it ran great
Yes they are related. ECM takes speed reading and makes engine timing and other engine performance changes.Change the sensor and you'll be happy again. sensors are pretty pricey
You should have the compression checked to see if the cylinders are in good shape. When a deisel starts to use oil, it burns it as it would fuel. The mot test is o/k because your emission system is working well. Hope this helps.Moe
