. Were did you check for codes ? an what are you checking with ? you need a factory scan tool to check for those type codes ? or the light flashes codes
Lamp Fault Code (LFC)
When the RCM detects a fault, it will cause the air bag indicator to flash a coded sequence called a LFC. The code is one digit. The digit is indicated by a number of flashes with a 0.5 second interval between pulses. There is a 5 second pause between each display of an LFC.
Each LFC is flashed five times after which the air bag indicator will remain lit as long as the key remains in the RUN position. If there are multiple LFCs, each LFC will flash in order of priority.
Each LFC has one or more associated DTC.

  1. Press TRIGGER. The RCM will run the On-Demand Self-Test and display On-Demand DTCs (reflecting hard system concerns) on the screen.

Air bag fault

In my opinion there might be a problem of wiring after changing the indicator console as there is connection problem of air bag in steering wheel. If there is a loose connection for any air bag the light goes on. You have to recheck the wiring and any loose connection for your air bag of steering wheel. But be sure to disconnect the battery terminals before you try to find out any fault in this area.

2003 2500HD Duramax...intermittent 'service air bag' and light coming on

could be a steering wheel sir coil,,,behin d the steering wheel there is a sir coil which electrically connects the air bag to the car thru this coil that allows the steering wheel to turn with out getting twisted wires, but sometimes that coil and have intermitent contact and give a air bag light at times, could be other things , but most likely that,no way to check it,,,get the trouble code and that will lead you more in a direction on it,,prob just gotta replace it, i would take to dealer if you misinstall the new one you can wreck it,,

Have a 2003 BMW i want to change the steering wheel, has air bag. I want to make sure i dont set off the air bag, 1st thing i did is desconect the battery. then?

Carefully remove the cloumn housin, there are two wires which actually go up into the steering wheel if so disconnect them, if it has stereo controls etc on the the wheel, there is a plastic pushfit connector. Disconnect it. Behind the wheel the should be 4 bolts, undo the bolts and carefully, with a soft robber hammer, tap the wheel off the spline.
