I have 03 Chevy tracker and tail light , dash light won't come on. I checked fuses. Is there any thing else I can check ?

Turn the parking lamps or headlamps on in order to illuminate the instrument panel and instrument panel cluster lamps. Voltage applies at all times through the TAIL fuse to the tail relay. Turning the turn signal/headlamp switch to the PARK or the HEAD position provides a ground path to the coil side of the relay to G202. The ground path energizes the coil of the relay. This closes the contacts in the relay. The closed contacts apply voltage to the IP dimmer illumination controller and all the illumination lamps. The illumination lamps are ground through the illumination controller. The controller is located on the left side of the instrument panel. Since the illumination controller is ground to G200, the lamps illuminate when voltage applies. The intensity of the instrument panel and the instrument panel cluster lamps is adjusted by the controller (4). The controller controls the intensity of the lamps by controlling the amount of current from the lamps to ground.Check the tail relay !

How do I know if the instrument cluster/ instrument panel is the one that's causing me to have a short in my tail lights

The cluster has nothing to do with the tail lights. You need to check for power and ground at the tail light plug. Fix which ever is missing. Could also be the light switch.

Instrument panel lights dont come on when the headlights are turned on. and no tail lights

These circuits are usually tied together. The loss of the instrument panel lights lets you know that you have problems with tail lights. Check your fuse panel for a blown fuse in this circuit. Best of luck,

Where is the fuse for the instrument panel back lighting? Idiot lights all work, but the main lighting for the entire instrument panel does not work.

The tail lights and the dash lights are on the same fuse, so , if you don't have dash lights then there is a good chance that your tail lights are out too. There is a fuse in the fuse box on the drivers side end of dashboard, which can only be accessed if the door is open, replace the one marked "tail lamps " and see if this doesn't fix it.

My tail lights and the lights on my instrument panel went out.

The first thing is check your manual for fuse locations, then check all the fuses. because if all the fuses are good then its a wire harness problem
and you will either have to take it to a dealer or a shop that specializes
in electrical.

Tail lights and instrument panel lights dont work

The Dash and Tail lights connect to the same fuse in most cars. if the fuse is okay, check to make sure the tail lights and/or dash lights are properly grounded. all bulbs could be blown...but highly unlikely.
