Why do you need to change the knock sensor? Just because there is a code for it doesn't mean it's bad. Does the vehicle run bad? Tune up or fuel filter can cause the code to set for the knock sensor. It listens for knocking so the pcm can shut the car down. Those very rarely go bad unless it has been soaking in coolant leak.

Under intake manifold on top of block, you need to remove intake to access sensors there are two of them you can't miss them when intake is off. After replacing sensors you need a new intake gasket.

First locate it and get a wrench and unscrew it from the exhaust pipe and unplug it from the wiring harness and re-install the same way.

on the 3.1, it is easier to change back plugs if you remove the coil packs. so you can reach the plugs from the top of engine. it almost seems impossible but this will work. it will give more room to work.

Sounds like you didn't put the pushrods back in the proper locations. There are two different lengths in this engine and you may have one backwards
