SOURCE: golf 3 gsx no powersteering , steering very stiff

Have you checked the tyre pressures. If you have no power steering a flat tyre will make tunning the wheels hard due to more turnning rsistance. Also a seized ball joint some where would also make steering hard.Hope this helps

SOURCE: how do i remove the Powersteering pump in my 1998

Replace the ps pump, brake fluid is not a lubricant, your pump is scored, raise the van, block it, remove the sheild, belt and right axle, and remove the pump, you will have to flush the system with 4-5 litres of PS fliud only. GOOD LUCK, RDJRP

Testimonial: "thanks for the feedback, I figured the pump is gone , so it is not worth the efforts to seal eery detail"

Mixing automatic transmission oil and powerstering fluid

Normally atf(automatictransmissionfluid)is ok for powersteering also, but there are some bmw models that it doesn't fit.
If you have a green label on your powersteering oil tank, then you should use sfs11, if I remember right. Anyway this whatewer oil ia the same that citroen uses for hydraylic systems. Suspension etc.
But don't mix them.

Bmw powersteering fault still no powersteering with new pump fitted

Who fitted the pump?

If the pump was fitted wrong it may have air in the pipes, it might need bleeding through, alternatively the fault could be the power steering rack and not the pump.

Hope this helps,

The powersteering in my 2006 Escape does not operate correctly.

you could have a hose that has a kink in it.or maybe trash in the line from filling the tank.take the hoses off and check to see if there is a blockage.this may help.

My 1999 vw Bug keeps leaking out power steering fluid .

Well sounds like your pressure side of the powersteering has blown the hose.. you need to order a new pressure hose from the parts store and get it replaced and refill the powersteering tank.. Thanks jerry ...
