SOURCE: 1990 lincoln town car trunk motor will work when releasing trunk
All you have to do is bring it in and it takes 2 minutes...to make it like a regular manual car trunk...they tap the part where it closes and it works just like a regular trunk. Much better because I always thought I'd get my hand caught in the automatic. One of the guys at the Service Center did it for me in 2 minutes for free:)) Don't get a new motor just make it manual. Plus the trunk open switch still works as usual.

SOURCE: change my trunk from electric to manaul close
Yes, you can change your present trunk latch to manually close by taking it apart and screwing the metal loop down a couple of turns and put it back together. Unplug the electric connection. Test the closing. You may have to repeat this for adjustment.
SOURCE: My trunk latch on my 1997 Lincoln Town Car,
replace the electrionic latch for the pulldown motor, thats the problem its common, i would just replace the whole assembly, but if you know how to take it apart then just do the switch part, if you power up the motor when you take apart you can test the motor part of it, good luck hope this helps.
SOURCE: 1996 Lincoln Town Car trunk motor won't shut off
under the trunk lip (directly where the latch goes into the lock jaws; remove the carpet so that you can see the side of the trunk latch; on the latch jaws (bottom) is a switch that contacts the latch (top) this switch is broken or, mis-aligned it opens (stops the trunk motor) when the latch contacts it.
