2004 crown vic. only 63K miles on her. AC/heat fan was sporadically working, now its done. AC was nice and cold, working fine. Is the fan a hard replacement if I were to find one at a parts yard?

  • karen spinale Aug 17, 2015

thanks this was very helpful. For about 4 months its been only working on full blowing, if I tried to turn the fan down, it would shut all the way off. There was no 'in between'. Does this still go along with your thoughts on the Resistor?

Yes,when the resistor goes bad, they may just work on one or two speeds,IF YOU BUY FROM AUTOZONE AND YOU INSTALL IT AND IT DOESN'T FIX IT,THEY WILL REFUND YOUR MONEY KAREN.

Hi Karen,I doubt it's your blower motor since it was sporadically working, they work or they don't,a blower motor resistor is what controls the motor, they are easy to replace, they are screwed in next to the blower motor, just remove electrical connector ,then use a phillip head screw driver, remove both screws and pull out, here's a link of a new one,it's best to take old one to part store and match up so you get the right one,get this part new,no junk yard ones,k. • Blower motor resistors divert power or ground through resistors to control blower motor speed
  • When not replaced, blower will either not function or will not run at all speeds.

Testimonial: "OMG Thomas Perkins you are amazing! I just finished my repair and you were so spot on will all your tips. It works beautifully now! thank you!"

Try to check the power and ground on the blower fan. If you missing the ground on the blower fan connector than most likely it is the blower fan resistor (controller), it is located under the hood close to back firewall behind left cylinder head.

Replace you Maf sensor and have a nice day. lol does the hesitation go away when you let off the gas. does it buck hesitate and misfire under load? most common problem is the maf sesnor.
easy to change. don't buy a used part it may develop the same problem after a little while. you can try cleaning the wire inside with brake cleaner (not intake cleaner). it may or may not help.
