Alternator voltage regulator! Depending on the Alternator and model, it is either located inside of the alt (defective return it and replace) or it it mounted externally. remove and replace
if you have renewd your battery and it is still ging flat then the alternator has failed once the diode pack goes the alternator works in reverse instead of charging the battery it drains it u have to change the alterntor
distributor cap and rotor. Does it turn over at all? If so check to see if you have spark, if you do,now the problem may be your fuel pump. check for pressure.
It is the alterntor, if the charging system was ok the engine would continue to run. Make sure the battery is fully charged (engine cranks fast) before you replace the alternator or you could burn out the new alternator from overheating.
