Common problems

Have you had any starter problems before the battery replacement. If you can bump start it, then the problem is in the starting system. There is a starter solenoid either on the fenderwell near the battery, or it is part of the starter its self. If it has a solenoid on the fenderwell, replace it. If that don't fix it, buy a starter, that is the last link in the starting system. Before you buy any thing, CHECK the battery terminals and cables to make sure they are making go contact where they hook on.
I hope this has been helpful, If you have never made these repairs before enlist the help of a mechanic or take it to a garage.

Starter is not engaging

you can take a screwdriver with the ignition turned on and bump the starter. This is going to arc the screwdriver but it will start the car. More then likely you will have to replace the solenoid/starter. hope this helps tim

1993 toy paseo starting issue

When you twist the key to start, and solenoid is working, the power goes directly to the cable on the other side of the solenoid. If the starter does not turn the engine over, and you KNOW the solenoid is good, then you have a bad cable connection at the solenoid or starter OR the starter itself needs attention. After power goes thru the solenoid, no relay is required. JUST 12 volts.

If when you turn the key to start and the solenoid wire (small wire) gets current, check and make sure you have a good ground. If you do the starter is bad. Replace the starter and your problem will be solved.

I need to find the solenoid is it on the starter or is it an remotely solenoid

It is part of the Starter...and with newer cars you usually end up just replacing the whole starter. The small bump on the side of the starter is where the solenoid is located. Hope this helps

the starter solenoid is on top of the starter, the starter is on the bottom rear of engine, the problem u are discribing is a defective starter solenoid, with this type of starter I doubt that tapping on it will make the truck start, u will need to replace the starter solenoid.
