Will the engine "dry out?"

The splash guard on front driver side came off while I was in a puddle about a foot high and car totally stalled. tried starting the car about 5 times before received a push out. waited about half hour still no engine start. it is now about 12 hours later and I have the hood up hoping to dry out. is there anything else I can do?

The engine most likely stalled due to the exhaust system being under water. When this happens the engine can't breathe properly and will stall. The vehicle may be flooded. Try holding your foot to the floor and cranking the engine to help clear a flooding situation. There may have also been some electrical that has gotten wet as well but it should be dried out by now as it is designed to operate in wet/rainy conditions

SOURCE: cranks but won't start

I did try what you are saying. I also did think it may have flooded. However, it not make any difference. The Vue still did not start. I was informed by a satrurn mechanic that for some reason, I still am not able to understand, the thermostat is the cause for the issue?????? Very strange, and I will be amazed if this does correct the issue. The temp gauge is reading normal when the car dies.

SOURCE: car hard to start after engine is warm

Sounds exactly like what I was dealing with a while ago. A nuisance (especially at fuel stations & such, where if you don't get it right away you end up looking like an idiot as it just turns over & over).

For me, it was my fuel filter. The previous owner had neglected the car so much & I had no idea how long it had been. $50 at an Oil Can Henrys & it was all back to normal. Great first step.

SOURCE: will not start after it stalls untill about 5-10 minutes

Your problem is most likey your intake gasket. They have a problems on the SOHC engines where the intake gasket shifts & starts leaking vacuum at the #1 intake runner causing a missfire on Cylinder #1.While the engine is Idling buy some throttle plate cleaner & spray throttle cleaner down at the #1 Intake runner where the intake meets the head.If engine stalls or runs rougher that's your problem.I have replaced dozens of those gaskets for tha reason!! They have a beter design gasket through saturn parts. It has a coating on it to prevent reoccurance. Also you should check you Coolant Temp Sensor,if it's ceramic it's most likely bad.Replacement is brass from saturn.Good Luck

SOURCE: 1992 Saturn SL2 stalls after running about 5 minutes

my only guess is a vacuum hose leak. possibly a loose air filter housing, or the mass air flow sensor. look for any hoses unplugged. if nothing is noticed, try cleaning out your fuel system. if that doesnt solve it, then it would be something an experienced mechanic would have to come and examine it personally.

Horn location 2000 GMC pickup

Your horn should be located on the front passenger side behind the passenger splash guard located in the wheel well. it is well out of sight from the engine compartment. You should be able to get under the car and see a conch snail shape held by a bracket on the other side of the passenger splash guard covered by the bumper.

When you are driving and if you run over the slightest puddle the steering wheel freezes up and you can't steer. The splash guard is missing on the front passenger tire. Could this be the problem?

Hi, Go to a wrecking yard and find a splash gaurd that fits. It will keep the water out of the steering.
Maybe then it will work for you. Good luck

Where is the battery located on a 1998 Chrysler curris?

It's inside the front drivers' side wheel well. Jack up the car and remove the inner splash guards. There's a splash guard under the battery, and the rest of the splash guard is 2 parts.
It's not necessary, but it might be easier to remove the wheel to access all the bolts/plastic rivets.

How do i change the turn signal bulbs on the front corner lamps... i can reach the bulb sockets but dont have the room to turn them and on the driver side with the way the battery housing sits i cant even...

Both the front turn signals are quite a mess to get to on this particular car the fastest and most easy way however to do it is to chalk the rear tires, jack the car up, put it on jack stands, then what you have to do is take off the splash guard under the car that protects the engine from water it's about 7 or 8 bolts be careful no to loose them for the splash guard will have to go back on after your done. Once off in the far corner you should have enough room to put your hand up, you might have to feel for it their is a large plastic screw on bolt that holds then both in careful not to pull out the small one feel for the large one on both sides once you get it turn counter clock wise and tug it out, replace bulb with new put light back into fixture, screw back in until it locks into place and your done, place splash guard back on, the whole project took me about 30 minutes with all the tools handy. Only tools you will need are jack stands, chalks, 10MM socket and socket wrench " for the splash guard" flash light, and a pair of rubber gloves if you dont want to get your hands all dirty.

If you have a wet seat then it is likely defective weather stripping around the window.

Try this. If the floor is dry, then it rains and the floor remains dry, only gets wet after a drive in the rain or on wet streets, you may have a hole somewhere.

Check for holes from missing rubber grommets or holes in the floorboard or firewall from rust. Check for any rust holes or missing rubber grommets under the car or on the firewall, anywhere water can splash up into the vehicle from driving in rain or running through puddles..

Check wet spots along the carpeting all the way up under the dash, if the wet spot is higher than the floor itself, you could be getting the water from splashing through puddles.

Any holes under the car or in the fenderwell even up on the firewall can cause this problem.

First check for any obvious signs of rust, if none are found then look for missing or defective rubber grommets.

How do I change a burned out headlight on my 07 Saturn Aura... lowbeams?

It's a bear to change the headlight on the saturn aura, you have to put the car on jack stands , unclip the splash guard on front side and pull it back then take out the washer fluid canister for the left side of car and just the splash guard on the right side. Theres a couple of bolts on the splash guard and tons of clips technically you are suppose to take them all off, but you can do the ones towards the front of car and pull the plastic back enough for access. This is not a fast job tho, but doable. I had to replace my headlight bulb.
