Whts the torque on the single outer nut on the front axle that holds the wheel bearing hub on a 2001 windstar ?

This is a special nut because it's deformed to retain torque. It's also a one-time use nut. I beleive it is 170-203 ft. lbs, good-day !

Procedure for front wheel bearing (hub assembly) replacement

jack up vehicle wheel in question and install jack stand.remove wheel. Unbolt 2 caliper bracket bolts and pry caliper assembly up off brake rotor and hang off to the side with bungee.remove rotor . remove large axle nut. From the back of the hub remove hub bolts most commonly 15mm.Using a slide hammer style wheel puller the hub can be removed. if all you have is a big hammer hit the hub back and forth side to side until it can be removed. Bolt in new hub assembly and torque bolts.Install axle nut and torque. install rotor and caliper. reinstall wheel and torque.

How to replace rear wheel bearing on 2003 hyandia sonata

Hub & Bearing Removal & Installation To Remove:
Hub bearing assembly (Typical) hyundai-08-00-6029.gif

  1. Release parking brake.
  2. Remove rear wheel assembly.
  3. Remove rear wheel speed sensor from carrier.
  4. Dismount brake caliper and support with mechanic's wire.
  5. Remove brake disc.
  6. Remove 4 axle hub mounting bolts. Special tool 09432-11000 (Typical) hyundai-08-00-6021.gif

  7. Using tool 09432-11000 (or suitable gear puller), remove tone wheel.
  8. Remove carrier.
  9. Remove stakes and remove flange nut.
  10. Support bearing outer race flange and press rear axle hub out.
  11. Using tool 09432-11000 (or suitable puller), remove inner race from axle hub.
To Install:
Hub bearing assembly (Typical) hyundai-08-00-6029.gif

  1. Apply thin coat of grease to bearing contact surface and hub.
  2. Using and appropriate tool, press bearing into hub. CAUTION
    Do not press against outer race of wheel bearing.
  3. Install flange nut and stake nut until it meets concave portion of spindle.
  4. Install carrier.
  5. Use an appropriate tool to press tone wheel.
  6. Install hub/bearing assembly with rounded portion of outer race facing up.
  7. Install 4 hub/bearing assembly bolts and rotate hub to seat bearing.
  8. Measure wheel bearing starting torque with a spring balance or equivalent device.
    • Starting torque should measure 15.9 in lb (1.8 Nm) or less
  9. Install brake disc.
  10. Mount brake caliper.
  11. Install rear wheel speed sensor to carrier.
  12. Install rear wheel assembly.

Removal & Installation Front To Remove:
The front wheel bearings are not serviced separately. If the front wheel bearings are defective, the hub and bearing assembly must be replaced.
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. Lubricate the threads on the halfshaft with clean engine oil.
  3. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Front wheels
    • Halfshaft hub nut
    • Caliper from the steering knuckle WARNING
      DO NOT allow the brake hose to support the weight of the caliper.
    • Brake rotor
    • Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) sensor from the backing plate
    • Hub and bearing assembly from the backing plate
    • Hub and bearing assembly from the halfshaft
    • Hub and bearing assembly
To Install:

  1. Install or connect the following:
    • Hub and bearing assembly onto the halfshaft
    • Hub and bearing assembly to the backing plate. Torque the 3 bolts alternately and evenly to 70 ft. lbs. (95 Nm).
    • ABS sensor
    • Brake rotor
    • Caliper on the steering knuckle.
    • Halfshaft nut. Torque it to 118 ft. lbs. (160 Nm).
    • Front wheel. Torque the nuts to 100 ft. lbs. (140 Nm).

YOU HAVE TO SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE ON JACK STANDS.MAKE SURE YOU HAVE VECHICLE PARKED ON LEVEL SOLID GROUND.ONCE VECHICLE RAISED.REMOVE FRONT WHEELS.REMOVE TIE RODS END COTTER PINS AND CASTLE NUTS.REMOVE TIE ROD ENDS FROM THE KNUCKLES.REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER BAR.POSITION THE DASH OPENING WEATHER SEAL FOR THE STEERING COLUMN OUT OF THE WAY.REMOVE OR DISCONNECT THE FOLLOWING.REMOVE PINCH BOLT RETAINING THE STEERING COLUMN INTERMEDIATE SHAFT COUPLING.REMOVE STEERING GEAR RETAINING NUTS BOLTS.REMOVE REAR SUBFRAME BOLTS.USE WIRE TO SUPPORT EXHAUST COMPONENTS UNLESS YOU ARE REMOVING THEM COMPLETELY.SUPPORT THE EXHAUST SYSTEM FLEX TUBE AND REMOVE THE FLEX TUBE TO DUAL CONVERTER Y PIPE ATTACHMENT.LOWER THE VECHICLE SLIGHTLY UNTIL THE REAR SUBFRAME SEPARATES FROM THE BODY APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES.REMOVE THE HEAT SHIELD BAND AND FOLD THE HEAT SHIELD DOWN.ROTATE THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY TO CLEAR THE BOLTS FROM THE FRONT SUBFRAME AND PULL TOWARD THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VECHICLE.PLACE A DRAIN PAN UNDER THE VECHICLE AND DISCONNECT THE POWER STEERING LINES.REMOVE THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY THROUGH THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VECHICLE***** TO INSTALL ****** INSTALL NEW TEFLON O - RINGS ON THE POWER STEERING LINE FITTINGS. PLACE THE RACK AND PINION RETAINING BOLTS IN THE GEAR HOUSING.INSTALL RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY THROUGH THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE VECHICLE.INSTALL POWER STEERING LINES ON THE RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY. INSTALL RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY ON THE SUBFRAME.INSTALL ******** HEAT SHIELD.INSTALL TIE ROD ENDS TO THE KNUCKLES TIGHTEN THE CASTLE NUTS AND INSTALL THE COTTER PINS.INSTALL STABILIZER BAR.INSTALL RACK AND PINION ASSEMBLY RETAINING BOLTS.TORQUE THEM TO 85 - 99 FT LBS. RAISE VECHICLE UNTIL SUBFRAME CONTACTS THE BODY.INSTALL REAR SUBFRAME RETAINING BOLTS TORQUE THEM TO 83 - 112 FT LBS.INSTALL EXHAUST SYSTEM FLEX TUBE TO DUAL CONVERTER Y PIPE.INSTALL FRONT WHEELS.INSTALL A NEW PINCH BOLT IN THE STEERING COLUMN INTERMEDIATE SHAFT COUPLING ON THE RACK INPUT SHAFT TORQUE PINCH BOLT TO 25 - 33 FT LBS.POSITION THE STEERING COLUMN OPENING WEATHER SEAL OVER THE STEERING GEAR HOUSING.LOWER THE VECHICLE FILL THE POWER STEERING FLUID RESERVOIR. START THE VECHICLE AND CHECK FOR LEAKS. CHECK FOR PROPER WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND STEERING WHEEL POSITION.BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM.

REMOVAL OF FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS

Front (4 Wheel Drive) To Remove:
  1. Raise and support the vehicle
  2. Remove or disconnect the following:
    • Tire and wheel assembly
    • Rotor (See: Disc Brake Rotor)
    • Wheel speed sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt from the steering knuckle
    • Electrical connection for the wheel speed sensor
    • Front drive halfshaft assembly (See: Halfshaft)
    • Hub and bearing assembly mounting bolts 4WD front hub 9308kg35.gif

    • Hub and bearing assembly
To Install:
  1. Clean all corrosion or contaminates from the steering knuckle bore and the hub and bearing assembly
  2. Lubricate the steering knuckle bore with wheel bearing grease or the equivalent
  3. Install or connect the following:
    • Hub and bearing assembly
    • Hub and bearing assembly mounting bolts and tighten the hub to knuckle bolts; Torque to: 133 ft. lbs. (180 Nm)
    • Front drive halfshaft assembly (See: Halfshaft)
    • Electrical connection for the wheel speed sensor
    • Wheel speed sensor and brake hose mounting bracket bolt to the steering knuckle and tighten the bolt; Torque to: 106 inch. lbs. (12 Nm)
    • Rotor (See: Disc Brake Rotor
    • Tire and wheel assembly

  4. Torque the lug nuts to specification
  5. Test drive the vehicle to confirm the repairs

What is the recommended torque for 2003 windstar front wheel bearing

the hold down bolts are around 49lbs with blue lock tight on the threads. cv shaft is around 110lbs. im unsure of the exact specs but these have worked for me for many windstars :)
