What country?, UK jeeps use diffr rad's and diff, methods......
there are more than one radio (orig) sold with car.
we cant guess the model !@
if you look and read the model there and google you WILL find
out how to set it.
FSM for 2000 USA shows no mention of codes.
http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index.htm?utm_source=cj#service
do you have the wrong radio in the car off a newer Jeep?
the radio sticker on top tells you year, and model and serial.
all key to finding this method.
but just the front dial has the 3 letter model code.... what is yours.
models RBN, RAZ, RAS? on the face plate it is.... look see it?
http://www.radio-code.com/Dodge_chrysler-Pay-Page-radio-code.htm
ask here.?
http://www.wranglerforum.com/f40/res-radio-security-code-151132.html
the operators guide may have this answer. lost yours?
button presses.... are there, if needed..
rules:
also never pull. the OID fuse with key on, or the radio scrambles.
to fix that error, key off pull that fuse, count to 50 put back.
if you guess 5 times the radio locks for 2hours
some newer RADS have a rule that if you guess too many times'
it bricks forever. (needs service center fix $$$$)
some codes do not exceed 5. 0 to 5,
in this case 8898 is not a code..... so whats with that number?
and last this great site on head ends
http://www.allpar.com/stereo/head-units/
see what radio you have, then ask.
and post the error codes on the display ("wait") or what?
Testimonial: "Hi, thank you for your help. The radio is a RAZ which I assume was original with the vehicle which was purchased in Europe (Portugal). I have not pulled the unit out yet to find the year, model or serial number. The code 8898 was assumed to be correct because it was written by the previous owner in the handbook and also appears on a sticker in the glove box. The error display is 'wait'."
the operators guide should cover this.
shows exactly what to do , to enter that code. or the book you have is from another car, or other radio. many times, folks see the guide is missing and buy one used on ebay. (with disinformation inside "hen scratch")
don't have jeep dealer in town. ?
drive in, ask for the code. ?
they confirm the car is yours, and bingo.
lacking that method, leaves the link above. pay radio-code.com their cash.
here are all ways, posted many times here.
If you lost your Radio memory (it's bricked asking for CODE?) or the NAV is bricked.
There are only 4 choices.
1: The dealer (walk in , tow in, or drive in, call them or use their web site, to ask, but most dealers say, you must walk/drive- in. "
laws") {carry radio in? and have car registration handy and VIN and prove OWNERSHIP}" laws vary by country"
2: Any lock Smith, that does cars and has license to do this , and some do house calls ($80 labor house call , in my town) (drive in,, house calls.)
3: Or use ONLINE services like this JEEP link. (they do most cars)
4: Some brands of car (say a FORD, google for YOURS) have forum's, that have dangerous software that cracks, these encryption codes, (keygens from H3LL they may be) or join a forum and beg.... (good luck, not getting a VIRUS with KEYGENS, software)

ok, now that the RAZ fact is known
we can google for you.
RAZ Stereo-CD Stereo Head Unit From Mitsubishi:
http://www.allpar.com/stereo/RAZ/
if the radio was swapped the dealer will give you the wrong code.(from sales records)
(unless you give him the radio sticker numbers...
see???? many cars have swapped put radios, after 15 long years...
and the records for your car can be WRONG.
the message wait, means, "you guessed too many times !"
to reset the WAIT delay, pull both radio fuses. (or battery neg lug) and wait,1 min. put back
and you get 4 or 5 more tries.
this 1/2 hour to 2 hour delay WAIT in the radio is the ANTI-HACKING FEATURE.
if say the radio has 4 try rule.?
only guess 3 times. key off and try 3 more times. repeat wash and wear....
more RAZ facts.... (endless huh?)
RBQ, RAZ, RBP, REV (ignition on/radio off)
Hold the CD EJECT and TIME buttons simultaneously for three seconds and the Radio ID will display. (id try this first)
with this ID the dealer (or others) can help you...
the #1 rule is, don't believe hen scratchings in the glove box.
get your password for your radio in your car. (others will not work)
and do not guess too many times, and some radios, permanently brick.
The made all this hard, just to foil thieves... so.... get the correct code (password) and it all gets 10x more easy.
