The shift linkage bushings and the Shift lever bushings are probably worn. Adjustment of linkage and shift lever is probably needed. If this is beyond your DIY capacity, I'd take to a competent Transmission shop. Or purchase a repair manual from your auto parts store. You will want it again soon anyway if you are a DIYer. filepeep.com may have the manual, or try manualslib.com

Jeep wrangler 2005 automatic floor gear shifter is loose won't engage stuck in park

try pushing the knob down onto the shifter a little bit then try and shift. Sometimes if that knob is raised even a little bit it will be locked in park. Can't be 100% sure without seein it but worth a shot. Hope that helps you.

I need a shifter diagram for 1984 s10 4wd

I have an 1984 S10 blazer & the service manual

Had it for 28 years

Be specific about the issue & I will look mine over

You won't likely find that part in old stock from a dealer

Salvage Yard may be your only hope

Get back to me about what you need or have to fabricate, etc

Key stuck in ignition of 2005 volvo XC90 and won't move out of neutral

same thing happened with my wifes xc. the shifter button was the problem. pull out on the button a little. if it pulls outward then it should be the same thing i experienced. at first i was able to correct this by pulling out on the button and inserting my finger under it. there is a thin metal rod in there that controls the shift cable. try pushing it back up a lil and keep the button as close to your inserted finger as you pull your finger back out. this worked well enough to get the vehicle back in gear so i could get the car home. i then pulled the button out of the shifter by inserting my finger again and carefully pulling on it. once that is out you can use your finger to pull the top of the shift cable upward and shift like you normally would. only way to fix is to replace the shift knob.

1999 Buick Regal GS gear shift knob button is stuck to release

Check in your fuse panel. The top first row and the first fuse. I took that fuse out and had the same problem. My gear shift button was stuck. I put the fuse back in and it worked.

2004 cavalier shift lever stuck

To check this out you must remove the shift handle by using a butter knife to remove a horseshoe clip facing the very front of the handles shank. Then remove the shifter plate to check the cables
