My 98 dodge ram started squealing and gets worse when I press the clutch in. It sounds like it is coming from the belt area. When I sprayed wd40 on it it stopped until I pressed the clutch in again

1998 Ford F150 5.4 liter V8 squealing problem. Ok, I have this loud squeal that sounds like a pulley or belt. It is getting worse by the week. At first, I would spray some WD40 on the pulleys and it would...

I don't think its the CPS, but I do know that WD40 will make a squealing belt even worse. If you havnt replaced the belt yet, I would do that.

Let us know if that helps.

2002 Mercury Cougar Squeal

Just for testing, a few seconds, will the vehicle start and run w/o the belt? Have a helper work the throttle, is the sound gone? If problem not the belt, check the belt driven accessory. Sometimes you can use a long metal rod of some kind, with belt on, one end of the rod touches accessory housing, the other end goes on that bone behind your ear, helps to magnify the sound. I guess you could use a mechanics stethoscope to do the same thing. Have helper work the throttle while you listen to each. Don't get tool or anything caught in belt. This is a serpentine belt, I haven't looked?
Maybe an accessory trying to freeze up or bad bearing? I can't think of anything else at the moment?

My car squeals whil in idle but not so much when im driveing it

Get the serpentine belt inspected or replaced.

To test open hood and while its squealing spray some water on it. If it subsides for a few seconds then you know where the source is.

Air Conditioning

Be carefule of hot parts and rotating/moving belts and pulleys.

If its a whine, most likely the bearings on the idler pulley or the bearings on the ac compressor clutch.
-To trouble shoot with engine running and ac on spray wd40 on bearing area of clutch then wait a few seconds to see if sound goes away. If not then try bearing area(behind bolt of pulley) of idler. This will work as temporay fix, but ultimatly you must replace bad bearing.Do NOT spray on belt or pulley surface.

If its a squeal could be the belt is loose and needs to be replaced or dressed.
-Belt dressing can be spray directly on belt while engine is running and ac is on.

Have a horrible squeling noise when A/C is turned on i think i am looking ast the alternator where the belt goes on and the wheel seems to be sticking

Sounds like you need a new belt, but check if tha A/C is turning when you switch it on ,if not then you will need to repair/replace the A/C.

98 Ford Taurus - Squeal near serpentine belt

Never use WD40 in a rubber belt.  Replace belt with ford belt and new tensioner.   And don't put anything on the belt..ever!.
