If your question relates to a leak, a classic symptom of a leaking crankshaft seal is drips of oil from the bell housing - where the transmission attaches to the engine. It only leaks when the engine is running.

To replace the seal you need to remove the transmission/clutch/flywheel assembly -or in the case of auto transmission - the torque converter which attaches to the rear of the engine.

To remove the old seal you simply prise it out with a screwdriver, lubricate the new seal and gently tap it into position. However as mentioned, you need to remove the transmission first..

While it is not common for a vehicle of that age, it is possible the rubber seals around the doors are aged enough to allow small amounts of air and noise to enter. If you can see physically the door isn't closed fully, check the closing points for lubrication as in 10 yrs the lubrication can collect rain, dust, silt, etc causing it not to function as it once did. Often times you may need to use a silicon spray to help remove the old lubrication and apply fresh. Silicon spray by itself will not provide proper lubrication for long. A local auto parts store should be able to recommend something for this. I most often use marine bearing grease as it stands up better to moisture.

Condensation in a headlight assembly usually means a crack or split in the assembly somewhere.Remove the assembly and use a hair dryer to dry it out. Go along to an auto supply store and get some "seam seal" (not silicone) and a silicone based lubricant.Spread the seam seal around the join in the headlight assembly and let it dry up.This is usually overnight.Take the silicone lubricant and apply it to the rubber gasket around each light bulb.DO NOT get the lubricant on the bulbs. Replace the bulbs in the assembly.This should solve your problem. Good luck

To perform the following procedure, the lower control arm must be removed from the vehicle. Refer to Removal And Installation for that procedure.

1. Using a screw driver or other suitable tool, pry the seal boot off of the ball joint assembly
2. Position receiving cup, Special Tool 6758 to support lower control arm when removing ball joint assembly. Install Remover, Special Tool 6919 on the top of the ball joint assembly.
3. Using the arbor press, press the ball joint assembly completely out of the lower control arm.

NOTE: When installing ball joint in lower control arm, position the ball joint in control arm so notch in ball joint stud is in the direction shown. This will ease assembly of the ball joint to the steering when installing pinch bolt.

1. By hand, position ball joint into ball joint bore of lower control arm. Be sure ball joint is not cocked in the bore of the control arm, this will cause the ball joint to bind when being pressed into control arm.

 

1. Position control arm with installed ball joint, in an arbor press with Receiving Cup, Special Tool 6758 supporting the lower control arm. Then center Installer, Special Tool 6908-4 on the bottom of the ball joint
2. Carefully align all pieces. Then press the ball joint into the lower control arm until it is completely seated against surface of lower control arm. The ball joint is correctly installed when there is no gap between the ball joint and the lower control arm. Do not apply excessive force against the ball joint or the lower control arm.
3. Install a NEW seal boot by hand as far as possible on the ball joint. Installation of the seal boot is to be with the shield positioned as shown.

CAUTION: Do not use an arbor press to install the sealing boot on the ball joint. Damage to the sealing boot will occur if excessive pressure is applied to the sealing boot when it is being installed.

1. Place Installer, Special Tool 6758 over seal boot and squarely align it with bottom edge of seal boot. Apply hand pressure to Special Tool 6758 until seal boot is pressed squarely against top surface of lower control arm.

CAUTION: A replacement ball joint is not pre-lubricated. Properly lubricate the replacement ball joint using Mopar Multi-Mile grease or an equivalent. Lubricate ball joint after seal boot is installed but prior to top of seal boot being pushed down below notch in ball joint stud. Air must vent out of the seal boot at notch when grease is pumped into ball joint, failure to do so will balloon and damage seal boot. Do not over grease the ball joint, this will prevent the seal boot from pushing down on the stud of the ball joint.

CAUTION: After the ball joint is properly greased, clip the end of the grease fleeing off below the hex. The ball joint seal boot is non-purgeable and further greasing is not required and can result in damage to the seal boot.

1. Reinstall lower control arm on vehicle.

TRANSMISSION LEAKS COME FROM TRANSMISSION OIL PAN GASKET LEAKING.OIL COOLERS LINES LEAKING.LEAKING AT TORQUE CONVERTER FRONT SEAL.TRANSMISSION SPEED SENSOR SEAL LEAKING.FRONT AXLE SEALS LEAKING AND LEAKING AT TRANSMISSION COOLING LINES TO RADIATOR.CHECK ALL YOU WILL FIND LEAK.IF YOU HAVE FAST LEAK OR PRESSURE LEAK.WITH CAR RUNNING IN PARK EMERGENCY BRAKE APPLIED LOOK UNDER CAR IF YOU SEE FLUID LEAKING OUT IN LARGE QUANITIES.COOLER LINES LEAKING OR TORQUE CONVERTER FRONT SEAL LEAKING.IF YOU HAVE SLOW LEAK THE LEAKS HAS TO BE AXLES SEALS OR PAN GASKET LEAKING OR VSS SENSOR SEAL LEAKING.

YOU HAVE TO SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE MAKE SURE ITS ON A SOLID LEVEL GROUND.THEN YOU REMOVE THE WHEELS THE BRAKE DRUM OR DISC.THEN YOU REMOVE THE NUTS THAT ATTACH THE OUTER SEAL RETAINER AND BRAKE BACKING PLATETO THE AXLE SHAFT TUBE.DISCARD THE NUTS.REMOVE AXLE SHAFT FROM HOUSING.WITH AN AXLE PULLER ATTACHED TO A SLIDE HAMMER.DISCARD INNER AXLE SEALPOSITION THE AXLE SHAFT IN A VISE.REMOVE THE RETAINING RING BY DRILLING A 1/4 HOLE ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY THROUGH THE RING. THEN USING A COLD CHISEL OVER THE HOLE.SPLIT THE RING.REMOVE THE BEARING WITH A ARBOR PRESS DISCARD THE SEAL AND REMOVE THE RETAINER PLATE.TO INSTALL - CLEAN THEN APPLY A THIN COATING OF WHEEL BEARING LUBRICANT TO THE BEARING AND SEAL CONTACT SURFACES APPLY WHEEL BEARING LUBRICANT TO THE LIPS OF THE REPLACEMENT INNER AND OUTER SEALS.INSTALL THE INNER SEAL WITH THE OPEN END OF THE SEAL FACING INWARD ENSURE IT IS COMPLETELY SEATED.INSTALL THE RETAINER PLATE AND THE OUTER SEAL ON THE SHAFT.ENSURE THE OPEN END OF THE SEAL FACES TOWARD THE AXLE SHAFT BEARING.PACK THE REPLACEMENT BEARING WITH WHEEL BEARING LUBRICANT AND POSITION ON THE AXLE SHAFT PRESS INTO PLACE.PRESS A REPLACEMENT BEARING RETAINER ON THE AXLE SHAFT AGAINST THE BEARING.INSTALL THE AXLE INTO THE AXLE TUBE.POSITION AND ALIGN THE SEAL RETAINER AND BRAKE SUPPORT PLATE AND INSTALL REPLACEMENT ATTACHING NUTS.TIGHTEN NUTS TO 32 FT LBS.INSTALL BRAKE ASSEMBLY WHEELS LOWER VECHICLE. It is not a bad idea.I always use a silicon based product on all door seals.It keeps them from drying out and helps them to keep their shape.N.A.P.A. sells a good product for that. Just ask your jobber!

3. Install the ignition coil. 4. Install the rocker arm and rocker arm shaft. Refer to "Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts" section. 5. Using special tools, Camshaft Oil Seal Installer (09221-21000), press fit the camshaft oil seal. Be sure to apply engine oil to the external surface of the oil seal. Insert the oil seal along the camshaft front end and install by driving the installer with a hammer until the oil seal is pulley seated. 6. Install the camshaft sprocket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
