You did not post the info on the year make and model. This might be something that you are going to have to get at a salvage yard.

It's a 1997 Toyota Corolla with a swap 4age 20v silvertop. I can pop start my car but none of the gages or radio, door locks or window work until I rev 7grand. And then when I'm driving it cuts in and out and I lose power to accelerate. I Thought I May Have Been a ground wire. But that's what I came across was the FL Block melted. I was getting power with jumper cables or a battery starter but I don't even get that anymore. Has to be pop started. Only reason I found the box melted is because when I have my keys turned on I get power letting me know my door is open, and I moved the wires around under the fuse box and it flickered my power on to the rest of the car.

  • Brad Brown Apr 13, 2015

You need to replace that fuse block, bad connections on the underside have caused heat to melt and ruin it. You are going to have to look in a salvage yard for parts because in the USA autmoakers are not required to supply parts to any vehicles that are over 10 years of age.

SOURCE: Major Power Problem with 03 Mountaineer Premier

Have the battery tested, perhaps the alternator also. I had the same problem on my 2005 Taurus ( also a Ford / Mercury product ). I replaced the alternator easy enough, and a full charge on the battery solved the problem. The vehicles are designed to shut down unnecessary or non-vital accessories first, as to prevent a major shutdown on the road. So your lights and signals will still work, but the rest of the electrical will power down to conserve the battery.

You can get the battery tested at most service stations or you can buy a tester at any auto parts store. Some of them will test it for free.

Hope this helps.

2000 tacoma flashers don't work but turn sig do work!

The hazard switch gets power from the horn fuse which is hot all the time, and from the turn signal fuse which is hot when the key switch is on. The turn signal switch gets power from the hazard switch and both use the same flasher.
So if the turn signals work but the hazard switch does not power the lights, and both fuses have power, I would say the problem is inside the hazard switch.

Electric cooling fans only come on when air conditioner is on.

Hi, the relay for AC compressor/Horn are on the left as you look at the car from the front. in the middle are Blower/Hi/Low and On the right,Engine Fan High Engine Fan Low. You may have more or less relaysand they may not be in order.

They are located in the Power Distribution Centre under the hood up near the wipers on the left. The fuses and breakers are on top and the relays are on the bottom.

Find the horn relay because its reasy to honk the horn while you pull the relay that completes the circuit. The one that is dissconnected and the horn wont blow is a good relay. Check the power rating in Amps and switch with the fan relays. You can find the fan by unplugging the coolant temp sensor. This will make the fan run all the time on High Speed (a good temporary fix for traffic jam overheating) and unplugging relays untill the fan stops running

Good Luck.

Hello cknight.

On the left side of your instrument panel under the dash you will find the relay bank.
Turn on your hazard lights and trace the sound of the clicking flasher to find the relay bank. There you will find your horn relay beside it.
