Typically it is a small valve with a 90 degree elbow located on the top of the engine, coming off of the valve cover.
Will have a vacuum line running off of it, and I do believe one end of the hose goes to the valve, and another goes over to the MAF box by your air intake box/hose.

it is down under the intake manifold. the intake manifold must be removed to get to it. this vehicle is known for developing a vacum leak in the elbow hose that connects to pcv valve, so ive done a few.

Location of pcv valve on 04 impala

Valve Cover

PCV Valves NEVER need to be replaced, ever

They have NO effect on the operation of your car

They seldom need to be cleaned

Forget it

They are just a device that regulates crankcase
vacuum flow, to burn any fumes.

Have NO idea why they are replaced.

Take it out & educate yourself, look at it,then forget it

Changing PCV valve

you pcv valve should be located on the top or around the intake on top of the engine. It is covered by a little pcv valve rubber hose...it is easy to identify because it is similar to a radiator hose but a lot smaller...no where near the size of a radiator hose...but when located, the pcv valve just pulls out and to check for it being bad, shake it and it should sound like something loose inside the pcv valve (thats a good pcv valve) but what they look like, they should be a silver looking color with a small little neck on it

PCV valve for 2004 Hona CRV

PCV Valve Operation: 0900823d80049deb.jpgA vacuum-controlled metering device that regulates the flow of crankcase fumes in the positive crankcase ventilation system by allowing more flow at high speed than at low speed, and acts as a system shutoff in case of engine backfire to prevent an explosion in the crankcase.
Depending on your engine size, the PCV is a different style and slightly different location.

Usually they are mounted in a hole on your valve cover.... connected by a vacuum tube.
Some are mounted with threads into the engine block (usually by the oil filter)

On the '04 Crv - it is nearly inaccessible behind the AC compressor and beneath what looks like an old vacuum advance. Most PCV valves today do not need to be replaced, unless there is actual valve failure, which I have not seen happen. I would not be concerned about replacing it.
