Do you mean the shift lever itself won't go into the R position, or it doesn't move backwards when in R. I've never owned a Dodge so I'm not positive on the shift pattern. At any rate, you should first check that the linkage is correctly adjusted. Then you might consider doing a tranny service (drain tranny, remove pan and clean it, replace filter, fluid etc.) For some reason the transmissions in the '90's - early 2000's were notoriously poor products with a high failure rate. If you get a Chilton/Haynes repair manual that covers the make/model/year of you truck it has troubleshooting tips, and how to do the tranny service.

SOURCE: all the sudden my 1999 dodge durango wont shift into reverse?
My 1999 Durango stalls when it’s cold and I shift into reverse.
Once the motor is warm reverse works fine.

sounds like a plugged trans cooler.have it checked for proper flow should be less than 10-15psi if so it needs to be replaced. check to see if the trans cooler lines go into the radiator. if so you will either have to replace the radiator (trans cooler is part of radiator) or buy and install an aftermarket cooler

The dodge Durango does not have a cabin air filter (pollen/dust filter) The only Dodge to have an dealer option to include one is the Dodge Caravan
