It might very well be doing just that. Make sure your spark plug wires are firmly attached to the head of each spark plug. Check timing, check TDC and cam position. See if your engine is registering and codes and then look up OBD II codes.
Throtle possition sensor could be bad tell us what is the code that you getting from the Ecu if you don't have a OBD II code reader take to any auto part place and they will check for free
The code P1451 on a Land Rover is "Leakage Detection Module Motor power stage error Drive cycle A:Signal out
of range - above maximum". This is an OBD-II diagnostic system code. As far as I know, a 1995 Land Rover Discovery does not use a OBD-II system. Is it possible that this rover is a later model year
