Replacing quarter glass on left side on 2005 pontiac gto

Remove the door opening weather-strip. Refer to Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement in Doors.
Remove side sill trim plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in Interior Trim.
Remove the lower quarter panel trim. Refer to Rear Quarter Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
Remove the center pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Center Pillar Upper Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
Remove the quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement in Interior Trim.
Remove the center pillar outer applique. Refer to Center Pillar Applique Replacement in Exterior Trim.
Remove the roof drip molding. Refer to Body Side Roof Drip Molding Replacement in Exterior Trim.

Important: It is necessary to use new nuts when reinstalling the quarter window.
Remove the nine quarter window nuts (1), securing the quarter window assembly (2) to the body opening.
Caution: When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.
Important: When removing the quarter window from the body opening make sure that the attaching pins are clear of the outer body.
Remove the quarter window (2) from the body opening.

Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
Remove the rear seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
Remove the door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement .

Remove the 3 quarter trim panel retaining screws (1).
Starting at the lower edge of the trim panel and moving alternately clockwise and counterclockwise, pull outward on the trim panel to disengage the eight rear quarter trim panel attaching clips (2).
Remove the quarter trim panel from the vehicle.
Remove the 4 radio speaker grille speed clips (1), securing the speaker grille.
Remove the speaker grille (2).
Remove the rear quarter trim panel insulator (1), from the back of the quarter trim assembly (2).
Remove 7 rear quarter trim panel armrest retaining clips (1).
Remove 7 rear quarter trim panel armrest retaining nuts (2).
Gently pry the quarter trim panel armrest insert assembly (3), away from the rear quarter trim panel and remove.

REMOVAL

(1) Remove quarter trim panel.

(2) Remove the bolts attaching the latch to the cab


side panel.



(3) Remove the nuts attaching the frame/hinge to

the B-pillar.

(4) Remove the glass from the cab.
(5) If necessary, remove the latch from the glass.

INSTALLATION

(1) If removed, install the latch to the glass.

(2) Center the window glass at the opening, insert

the hinge studs in the B-pillar holes, and install the

nuts.

(3) Attach the latch to the rear side panel with the

bolts. Tighten the bolts with the latch in the lock

position and pushing rearward on the latch.

(4) Test the vent window for water leaks.
(5) Install quarter trim panel.

INSTALLATION

(1) If removed, install the latch to the glass.

(2) Center the window glass at the opening, insert

the hinge studs in the B-pillar holes, and install the

nuts.

(3) Attach the latch to the rear side panel with the

bolts. Tighten the bolts with the latch in the lock

position and pushing rearward on the latch.

(4) Test the vent window for water leaks.
(5) Install quarter trim panel.

You need a glass shop to do this, it must be removed with special skills and tools and glued back in place.

How do I replace a broken rear quarter glass?

You have to remove the rubber moulding that holds it in place. I would highly suggest a windshield/glass shop for this repair so no moulding/paint damage occurs

R/H rear quarter window repalcement

tv is the wrong adhesive. you must use urethane with a primer. it is available at any QUALITY parts store (NAPA or Carquest comes to mind)

  1. Remove the rear quarter window glass.
  1. Using a soft brush or vacuum, remove any dirt or foreign material from the pinch weld.
Installation
ani_caut.gif CAUTION: When installing urethane installed glass parts, the vehicle must not be driven until the urethane adhesive has cured. At temperatures above 21°C (70°F) and relative humidities above 50%, adequate cure time is typically 24 hours. (Refer to Essex drive away chart for the cure times as temperatures and humidity vary.) Inadequate or incorrect curing can adversely affect the retention of the quarter window glass.
  1. NOTE: Avoid scratching the pinch weld.
    Trim the remaining urethane adhesive. The urethane adhesive must be smooth and free of cuts and contamination after trimming. Avoid touching the urethane adhesive after preparation.

  1. Apply the urethane metal primer to any exposed or damaged metal on the pinch weld.
  1. If reinstalling the original rear quarter window glass, remove the excess urethane adhesive.
  1. Clean the rear quarter window glass with a non-alcohol based window cleaner.
  1. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Wipe off the urethane glass prep immediately after each application because it flash dries.
    If installing a new rear quarter window glass, apply urethane glass prep twice around the glass surface to be urethaned.
  1. If installing a new rear quarter window glass, apply urethane glass primer to the same area that was prepped in the previous step. Allow 5 minutes to dry.
  1. Cut the urethane adhesive applicator tip to specification.

  1. Apply a bead of urethane adhesive on top of the existing urethane bead on the pinch weld. Make sure that all gaps in the urethane adhesive are smoothed into one continuous bead.
  1. Position the rear quarter window glass to the flange, and press the retaining tabs into the flange to engage.

  1. Install the rear quarter window glass.
  1. Check the rear quarter window glass installation for air or water leaks through the urethane seal.
  1. Install the C-pillar trim panels. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05.
