This could be a bad wheel bearing.
If it happens only in a turn, it could be a CV joint.
Some brake systems have a brake warning that scrapes on the disk to let you know. It could be bent or out of place.
Hope this helps.

Grind/scrape sound when turning right or left after accelerating from standing still.

Noise is a hard one to figure out without hearing it. Have you gone to a garage and put it up on a hoist? I'm sure that when you had the transmission work that they checked the u-joints, maybe? A flex plate that has a crack will make noise, but they looked at that when the transmission was out right? Possible bad motor mounts allowing the engine to shift and the fan hit the shroud. Can you duplicate the noise by with your foot on the brake and the car in gear start to rev the engine? Is there a baffle in the muffler or catalytic converter? Lots of possibilities.

Honda Accord metal grinding sound, esp when starting car when cold

A timing belt usually makes a loud squealing noise (like a 'shriek/scream') when it is worn or slipping, not a grinding noise.

A quick check - before you start the car - is to pour some water onto the inside of the belt where it goes around the pulleys. If there's no noise at start up, you know it is the belt at fault (or the metal pulley/s are worn).

There are kits to replace the timing belt (and bearings). Have a look on Ebay:

If the noise happens before the car moves - it obviously can't be your brakes. When backing up the noise may appear louder simply because your head is turned ..

If the noise is actually coming from a wheel, it possibly could be the backing plate on the brakes - the thin disk behind the brake may be rubbing on the rotor.

However.. a grinding noise ... if it is coming from the front of the engine in the general area of the timing belt be very wary - if a bearing or the belt fails, your engine will be history.

Why not give a mobile mechanic a call? Those guys are usually quite good and a lot cheaper than a workshop

will try to assist you. did you have your clutch replaced professionally? if it's a popping or cracking sound when accelerating or turning, it's most likely a c.v. axle going bad. either on driver or passenger side in the front of the car right?if it is a bad c.v. axle it will pop and crack when you turn wheel from left to right at low r.p.m. if not this, you may have brake issues. either it's a grinding sound while accelerating or decellerating,as long as cars in motion the noise will persist.try tapping your brakes while in a parking lot in slow gear, hear something from driver front, have a passenger with the widow down on passenger side, hear it from front passenger side? the thing i go by is what i hear when i test drive to diagnose an issue with a vehicle is,axles?popping and cracking when turning the steering wheel from left to right at low speed. Noise from offside rear wheel when turning, it sounds like a bearing but we don't think it is that, its not really a 'knocking' more of a scraping, grinding sound. Its not continious, seems to occur mainly...

Have the front brakes checked alot of times the brake pads wear down to the point that the wear warning indicator starts to rub on the rotor or disc and makes a scraping sound when turning, your front brake pads are due to be replaced, I am 80% sure.

I have a scraping noise coming from my wheels.

Sometimes these things happen and even after servicing them they come back again..If you want to be safe then have the braking system serviced...which means removing every pad and clean everything...Once all is put back you should be fine..
