SOURCE: chevy avalanche transmission problems

Hello;
Are you getting the check engine light? If so the electronics may have gone out. You may not need a rebuild but you won't know till you pull the oil pan on the transmission and inspect the contents. You may also have lost the neutral safety switch. It is mounted on the drivers side of the transmission. Check those out first and let me know what codes you get.
For Ponchoboy; the clunking and hissing you hear are teminal root causes. Drop the oil pan and if it has a lot of filings and metal it is time for a rebuild.
Hope this helps; Rate me highly;

SOURCE: I need to remove the door panel on my 2004 Avalanche

There are plastic clips that hold the door panel inplace .. First look for any hidden screws near the door handle . there might be a little plastic cover that you need to remove with a small screw driver to find the screws.. look under the handle also to see if there are any hidden screws . next take a flat blade screw driver and start at the bottom corner and try gently prying the door panel off . try to stay close to the plastic clips not to damage them by prying real hard .. once you have snapped them loose all the way around .. lift up on the door panel to remove it from around the window lip and out it should come.. holler if you have any problems.. usually The mirrors on the chevys are up above the panel and there is a triangle plastic cover over it on the inside .. it will pry off also gently and there are 3 nuts there that need to be removed .. use caution these fall behind the door panel ... holler if you need more. 2005 Chevy Avalanche. Can anyone help me with instructions on how to install the resister?

Question edited a bit for clarity.
Question moved from Cellphones category.

Not sure what you mean by 'the register'. That is an old fashioned name for a heater radiator? Do you mean something to do with the heating system, like vents of blend door actuators that control heat and cold direction?

or a window regulator.

2004 chevy avalanche blows cold air then heat comes on driver side. how do I fix it

If one side blows cold and the other blows warm it is most likely a blend door problem.

sounds like a security issue, disconnect the neg terminal of the battery for 5 minutes, after you reconnect the battery use the door key to lock and unlock the drivers door. try to restart

Where is the blend door actuator on the drivers side for a 2004 Chevy Avalanche?

Probably on heater box under dash. are you having problems with heat or cold blending?

My 2004 Avalanche ' heating system will not heat. No matter what the setting it either blows no air or cold air and it is 25 degrees outside so this is a problem. The engine is up to temp and I have tried...

The most likely cause is a failed blend door actuator; however I recommend a little troubleshooting. First, can you hear a clicking sound behind the dash when you turn the setting to hot? If yes, it is certainly the actuator stripping its gears. If not, check to make sure the heater hoses are both hot as they connect to the heater core at the firewall (in the engine compartment). If one or both of the hoses do not get hot, there is a blockage caused either by an air bubble or a stuck water control valve in the heater hose. If the hoses are both hot, the indication is again the blend door actuator.

Below are instructions for replacing the actuator. Look at the diagrams carefully--the big arrows point to the front of the truck and the actuator is on the side of the heater box above the outlet duct that runs to the driver's side of the floor. Also, the actuator is expensive, so I recommend you make sure it's bad and shop around a bit to get a good price. To check out the actuator, first see if you can turn the blend door by hand. If you can't turn it, maybe it's jammed. Also, reconnect the actuator after removing it and see what it does when you turn the heater to hot.

Removal & Installation
  1. Remove the floor air outlet duct extension (1) from the floor duct (2).

To install:

  1. Install the blend door actuator as an assembly with the actuator cam.
    1. Line up the heater/defroster valve lever with the blend door actuator cam slot.
    2. Line up the A/C valve lever with the blend door actuator cam

  2. Install the blend door actuator mounting screw to the HVAC module.
    1. Tighten the blend door actuator mounting screw to 14 inch lbs. (1.6 Nm).

  3. Connect the electrical connection at the blend door actuator (10).
  4. Install the floor air outlet duct extension (1) to the floor air duct (2).

Loud clicking dash

Possible HVAC blend door motor skipping over the gear drive due to a jammed blend door. Also it could be valve train noise in the engine, I would need to hear it really.
