Started truck this morning. A lot of white smoke came from tail pipe. Check engine light has been going on and off. What could the cause of this?

Are you loosing coolant? If you are, you may have a leaking head gasket. Coolant will leak into the cylinder and is turned to steam as the engine is running and comes out the exhaust as steam.

Had the same codes on my truck. cat converter was plugged. I was told to take the cat off and gut it, then put it back on and it would run fine, but that didn't work. You need a new cat. Might want to replace the o2 sensors before and after the cat also. Hope this helps.

Random misfires are some of the trickiest problems to solve, usually an ignition system problem a bad or weak coil pack or possibly a spark plug wire. If not the ignition system then surely a clogged injector.
Testimonial: "Thank you!! What do you know about EGR valve? lol...We have tried to find every reason it would be missing. Mary"

If its smoking that bad you should be able to tell if its oil or antifreeze by the smell, stand behind the car as its running, if its white and you smell a sweet smell its antifreeze if its blue and smells like a oil refinery its oil.
SOURCE: engine is puttering and dying out. with white
White exhaust smoke is from anti freeze. You have a bad head gasket
