Cluster lights, on all cars. have one lamp called CEL.
check engine light, some even have ICON of engine with ? mark.
the operators guide lost in the glove box, sure,
but it says clear as day, get the car serviced.
if you have a full shop at home. and the scan tool. as all do.
then you scan it and see the DTC errors
then look that up in the Suzuki FSM book for how to isolate it
to a cause.

What is wrong with my 2003 caravan odometer says "done"

Typically, when the computer code scan is complete it will display the word 'done'. Generally it would be preceeded by any "P" error codes if they exist.

You didn't happen to cycle the ignition key 3 times to ON before it showed up did you?

2005 Highlander instrument panel shows lights on three symbols

The VSC and Traction Control require the engine to be at 100% in order to function correctly. As a fail safe these systems a disabled anytime the engine computer detects a fault. When they are disabled the lights are illuminated to let you know that they will no longer function. The true problem is with the check engine light. The engines computer has detected a problem with a sensor or system that it monitors or controls. You have three options to get the codes that will help you determine what's wrong 1. You can buy an inexpensive code reader for about $50 and pull the codes yourself. 2. You can call your local parts store to see if they can pull codes for you. 3. You can visit your local repair shop or dealer and have them perform a diagnosis. There is usually a set fee. They will pull codes, run some tests, and pinpoint the problem for you. Let me know what you figure out.

Service engine soon light

The service engine soon could be an indicator that you need to have minor maintenance done in the near future. I had a Grand Am that the service engine light would turn on when I was getting close to needing an oil change. You might check your owners manual for an exact reason as to why it turns on.

My car smog test said my car failed the MIL/check engine light due to warning lamp failure means what?

Basically, it means the check engine warning light didn't light up when it should. Perhaps a burned out bulb?

Every vehicle has a "system check" that happens every time you turn the key on. Most people don't know it is happening right before thier eyes. So if you go out and get into your car in the morning and you turn the key to "on" but then don't go the rest of the way to the "start" position there are several warning lights on. The check engine light is one of them. All the system is doing is running power through the light to show it is functional.

It doesn't mean there is something wrong, it is just showing that an error "can" be displayed if an error existed by the light being on. Try it next time. Turn the key on but dont start the engine. If your check engine light is off, then that is what they stated in the report.

How do you reset the check engine light on a volvo S40? I did my own oil change and it pops up every time I start my car.

The Check Engine light has nothing to do with changing the oil. The light is on because there is a problem with the emissions system. Even if you reset the light it will just come back on unless the problem causing it to come on is repaired. You will need to have the ECU scanned with an OBD2 scan tool. That tool will retrieve the code that has been set by the ECU. The code will tell you what part is being effected, but not necessarily what part or parts are defective. To determine that takes training, experience, and diagnostic skills. I suggest you seek professional help. If the engine is running fine there is no hurry but if it is not running as it should, then do not put this off.

1987 Buick Century Limited V-6 engine w/ac. Engine cranks but won't start. Instrument panel light shows "Service Engine Soon". Also light shows "Oil Choke". And light shows picture of battery.

I took my car to my mechanic. He did a diagnostic circuit test on the engine and then replaced the distributer ignition module and camshaft and crankshaft position sensors.
