Sep 20, 2011 - 1999 Ford Explorer 4.0L -need assistance on removing upper intake ...Are you sure you have the OHV/pushrod engine and not the SOHC engine? ... Do youhave the upper intake manifold loose, you just are unable to ... the lower intake gasket, valve cover gaskets, Injector o-rings, plugs and wires. Thanks ...
Depends on whether the Thunderbird engine is a V-6. it is a 4.0 V-6.and what year. Take your head gasket off the Explorer engine and place it on the head off of the thunderbird head, if all the holes line up its possible, check and see if the valve train are the same. Are the head bolts in the same place. And as you know, you will have to buy new head bolts to install the heads if they work. They say not to use old head bolt twice. They have been stretched and could break.
I hope this has help you on your project. Good luck.
a slow leak will not make the engine run poor, at least not a first. another spot hard to detect would be the heater core, behind the dash. when these leak you can sometimes smell it, kind of a sweet smell from the heater/ a/c dash vent area
Have you adjusted the pushrods properly? Pushrods generally need to be adjusted after installation.
Not sure how to do this on this model, although I own a 94 Ford Explorer with the V6 4.0 Liter motor.
Basically, when a gas engine doesn't run, you check 4 things, and narrow it down from there.
1. Gas (Is gas pressure good, is gas flow strong enough?) 2. Spark (are all spark plugs firing properly? Is spark strong enough) 3. Combustion at each cylinder (timing, pushrod adjustment) 4. Air Flow (MAF/MAP sensor working? Air Filter dirty?) Appliance Repair Utah
