Having shifting problems

Something must be in the way blocking the shifter maybe inside the car something fell into the console or the console was moved or the linkage underneath is bent ? if you can go from 1-2 and have neutral there but can't go further in the shift pattern I suspect what I listed also there could be a broken bushing in the linkage get under it after safely jacking up and put it on stands and inspect all linkage parts for missing or bent parts also look under the console first it easier for an object that's stuck in there ? ( a pen maybe )
