Fill it up.. Let it get warm parked.. Once hot - shut it off.. if there are any noticable leaks - you wil see it now - while the pressure is up..
If no leaks - could be a head gaskit..
If its a head gaskit & your losing that much coolent - you should see steam or fluid out the exaust...
What about an evaporator coil going bad. My van is in the shop and they can never find a leak. Head gasket is fine, but freon is coming THROUGH my front seat vents..and then two months later, AC is dead AGAIN. Ugh. So they are checking this coil thing. They said "oh I hate it if it is". Yikes.
There are only two ways antifreeze can escape...from an external leak (you need to look carefully to find it) or out the tailpipe. (white smoke) Generally if out the tailpipe, you will also find coolant in the engine oil. Don't drive it 'till you have a satisfactory answer as to where it's going or you can loose the engine.
If you don't see any leaks I would say that your head gasket has cracked. Check your oil and see if you see any water or if the oil looks like chocolate milk. More than likely it will and that means your head gasket is gone. You will need to get that fixed asap and see if any more damage has been done to the engine. Let me know if you have any more questions but I wouldn't drive anymore until you get this worked out. Thanks for using FixYa and good luck!
