It's located on the air intake tubing between the air filter box and throttle body.usually rectangular, mounted to intake w/screws,and has a wiring connector.DON'T touch the wires inside, clean only with electrical contact cleaning spray. Best O'Luck

1997 dodge dekota sport,stalls out,wont stsy running

Concerning the 1997 Dakota: I had the same problem. After a little checking and research I believed it to be the IAC (Idle Air Control Valve). I replaced it and it started right up and idled perfectly. It never stalled again. The IAC is located on the backside of the throttle body and is easy to get to and change out. Hope this helps.

I have a 98 Dodge Dekota. Can someone tell me if a crankshfat sensor & a distributor preform the same thing? I was told I have a distributor and not a Crankshaft sensor.

they do a similar job but in a different way. no you don`t have a cam sensor in the conventional way, the distributor tells the computer when to fire the injectors and ignition.

Once again my friend told me his 1997 dodge dekota loops at idle

sounds like variable pressure in the fuel system..aperently there is bleedoff of fuel pressure during operation.. that means there is an issue with the pump holding proper fuel pressure in the tank..there is a part in there where this happens and it may be going bad..sign that replacement is needed .. also check the fuel filter under the vehicle..it may be plugged up..
