Could be the switch. Could be the roof module or regulator. You can pull the head liner down a bit and look. If you see loose cables, its the regulator. Remove the head liner. The module is in front center of the window. I have removed them without taking out the head liner. You have to be careful though. Pull the headliner down to much and it will crack.
Most point sets for automotive use will fall in between .010" and .020" gap. You can often find older auto service books at the library and get the right number from there.
If the body is solid and the rest of the car is in decent shape, certainly fix it. Your best bet would be to pick up a Haynes repair manual for your car. It will have all the info, with pictures and drawings that you will need to do the job, including torque amounts. It'll probably take you a couple days at most and the parts are not expensive, just remember that a head gasket has a TOP and a BOTTOM. Also make sure the new one matches identically to the old one, the same holes in the same places.
sounds like blown head gasket or possible cracked head. Only way to know for sure is either you pull the head, take to a machine shop have it serviced, they will replace any bad valves, resurface and pressure check it. If its cracked they will tell ya. The alternative is to pull the head, clean up really good and put a new gasket and reinstall the head. If it doesn't fix its cracked.
After removing the head bolts you should use new ones, torque specs will be with the new bolts. Also make sure you run a tap through the block and lubricate head bolts prior to installation for better torque accuracy.
Honestly... If you are really not that good at mechanical issues you probably should take it in... Not to be mean but the head needs to come off in a bolt sequence and reinstalled in a bolt sequence with the correct torque... The passenger motor mount,exaust,wire harness,valve cover,head boltscoolant hoses,throttle cable and many more items need to be removed......Also NOTE:... slip and tuck head gasket jobs are NOT advisable and ussually result in doing the job twice over..... The heads have a tendency to warp and also crush in the gaskets over time....The head should be checked for warpage. Also a good time to do the valves and replace seals.......in the end if you are not experienced and do not have someone around that knows aboput the job at hand you may want to have the job done by a tech... For fun grab yourself a Chiltons manual and read through........
