Im assuming the alternator your replacing is on a v6 statesman.
1.disconnect battery
2.remove engine cover
3.remove drive belt
.remove 10mm bolt that holds bracket from eng to alternator
4.remove all wiring from the rear of alternator.
5.remove the 2 bolts that holds the alternator to engine.
6.wiggle alternator and it will slip out.;
7.refit new alternator in these steps but reversed.
8.once up and running again please make sure you check the system charge rate..

Hi,I have a Alfa 2003 156 2.4 JTD. All me warning lights came on and the mechanic told me that the battery and the diode box was shot. He replaced both. It lasted for about a month and the same thing...

Perform a voltage drop test across the battery (charge wire) circuit to the alternator. Corrosive or high resistance spots created in the fuse or path will render the alternator inoperable even though there's nothing wrong with the alternator.

Kia rio 2003 alternators burning up?

Check Alternator Voltage regulator if it fails it can send up to 18volts to the battery and make sure your battery is not too old usually most batterys will fail after around 2-3years causing the alternator to work harder . Also check your fuses someone may have put a wrong fuse somewhere. Don't buy a used alternator. Good luck.Student Mechanic LWIT Kirkland

Charging system lights come on in my Chrysler 300 3.5l. Went to mechanic paid $129 for diagnostics. Mechanic told me the alternator was overcharging. Went and bought a new alternator replaced it myself and...

That is a tough one. Alternators do not overcharge because the alternator is bad. They overcharge because the alternator CONTROLS are having problems. The charging system in your 2005 Chrysler 300 is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) Your vehicle needs to be diagnosed by someone who understands how this system works.

Sorry about the $129....I would raise a BIG fuss about that if they told you the alternator needed to be replaced. Apparently, they do not understand how your system works. (It is very difficult to give a correct diagnosis if you do not know how the system works in the first place.)

Do you have to replace the ignition coils when you change the spark plugs? i have a 2003 A6 3.0 AWD and was told by a mechanic that the car needed both replaced on all cylinders.

Not necessarily. But if the mechanic has advised you to change then do so as he is must have noticed something wrong with them.

Hi, unfortunately your voltage regulator is controlled by the PCM. If the 120 amp charge fuse is good and the alternator is good; then the PCM is probably bad, as your mechanic is suggesting.

I have a 2006 s40 2.4i that needs an alternator and battery. I was told that it will get an updated alternator that also would requier an updated ac suction line. Can I still get a factory alternator...

I need a new alternator as well (2006 S40, 2.4ti, 80K miles) and the lowest quote I'm getting is $875. The dealer wants $950, an independent mechanic I trust quoted $930. You would think they could replace the part without all the extra nonsense -- in most other cars, they probably could. Volvo has made it unnecesarily difficult with the way they've designed this car. This is the first and last Volvo I will ever purchase.

The mechanic who quoted $875 also said he has someone in town who could replace the non-working parts of my current alternator and get it working again for about $575. But I wouldn't have a car for 2 full days.

Motor mount replacement at 93000

Your best bet would be to pick up a Chilton manual from autozone. It will give you step by step instructions on how to do all kinds of things with your vehicle, including the motor mounts.
