Check or replace the fuel pump control unit, common problemon the 720 models. It is in the right kick panel near the glove box. The part costs about $60 from Nissan. There was also a recall on the ECM relay-causing surging, bucking, stalling, instruments go crazy. Relay is in the box at right rear of engine compartment. Have you replaced the fuel filter and checked the air filter?
I have a 81' Nissan 720 pickup. The turn signals and hazard lights have stopped working after having to remove the dash for a radio install can someone suggest how I can get them working again... Thanks kindly. Kris in LC,NM..USA
you blew your head gasket, water leaking into cylinder, when you let the car sit, it cools water seeps into cylinder. you drive it around it warms up, water evaporates, the metal expands due to heat. water stops leaking into cylinder and car feels to run normal again.
You need to adjust the automatic choke. Your choke may not be opening fully. There is a fast idle cam linked to the choke to keep the throttle open more until the engine is warm. The idle mixture screw is part 37 in the picture, but get the choke adjusted right first, and you may not have to adjust the mixture screw. See adjustment procedures at link beloe.
A TPS will not cause a no start,so the 1st thing u do here is stop guessing and do the proper tests, the 1st test to do is check for fuel pressure, your discription sounds like a failed fuel pump, get a can of spray starting fluid from the auto parts store and spray that into the intake air pipe to the engine, if it starts and stalls right away then u have a fuel pressure issue most likely due to a defective in tank fuel pump, next have the OBD 2 electronic engine control system tested for fault codes, u will need to buy a fault code reader, the connector that it plugs into is right in front of the steering wheel under the das, the code readers are about $40 from Kragen or Autozone parts stores, let me know what happens.
