There are several freeze/frost plugs on the chevy 3.1L.
usually they are located on both sides of the engine block about the location between the cylinders as where the water passages are on the inside. there are also freeze plugs on both ends of the block just below the cylinder head. if you have a problem with coolant leaking. the most common places. 1. Behind the power steering pump, leaks down where intake meets cylinder head.2- Near coolant temp. sensor, and around lower intake bolt.below the throttle body.But could also be leaking internally, Coolant can leak down into the lifter galley and crankcase. Eventually, the loss of coolant can cause the engine to overheat, and may cause additional damage such as a cracked cylinder head or bad head gasket. if the oil looks milky or foamy it probably has coolant in it.
