2005 ford freestyle surges while foot on brake

My 2005 ford freestyle has approximately 62000 miles on it. About 4 months ago it started to surge forward while my foot was on the brake. It also revs up the rpm's to about 2500. It will then go into failsafe engine mode and run like it only has a second gear. I took it to the local ford dealership. No codes were stored and they could not duplicated the problems. It still continues to have this problem and I am not sure of what to do.

Its a common fault with the fords. The air throtle idle valve needs to be replaced.Or you may call it a tapper valve.

What caused my Lincoln ls to surge while foot was on the brake?

My 1st guess or 1st instinct would be to say it's a computer software issue, becasue I can't think of anything mechanical that could cause this type of issue. I suggest instead of asking here, you contact your car dealer or manufacturer.

sounds like you have a vacuum line issue or connection. stepping on the brake sucks vacuum from the engine which may help understand where to start looking.

Truck has been dying surging and dying when i come to stop at li

Try shifting to nuetral at stop signs for now. Will it keep running in gear with you foot on the brake? How about with the parking brake? You may have a simple vacuum leak at the brake booster.

I bought my 2005 sebring a year ago and it is due for smog check.I put 3,000 miles on the 2.7 litre engine in the last year and it now has 36,000 miles.A couple months ago the malfunction yellow light came...

the 2.7l has a sludge problem. This could cause the stalling and loss of power. There's a few fixes, the new water pump (which is part of the problem) doesn't dump coolant into the oil pan. Easy way to check is to simply drop the oil pan.

2005 nissan murano "s" surges and bucks when accelerating.

You need to have your engine flushed and cleaned out. One or more of your spark plugs aint firing. You need to replace them all to include the wires as well. If you dont get your engine flushed, you could blow your engine up.

Engine is surging what part(s) does this involve?

Hey! Me too same problem. Just a slight increase in RPM after putting car in reverse or drive and with foot on the brake, presumably brake light circuit lit. Just enough to be startling, then annoying. And yes, the dealer said it registers as possible problem with the throttle body, but then cant't repeat the problem. I am thinking maybe there is a current leakage into the fuel injection system from the brake light circuit because that's the only time it seems to happen.
