2001 Saturn sl200 it over heats. No heat replace thermostat and temperature sensor. Fan works but stays on when car shut off.

This isn't an SL2, this is an L200. The cooling/ ac condenser fan module is located at the driver's side front under the hood near the radiator. The module has a series of relays in it soldered to a circuit board. These relays can become stuck closed and cause the fan to stay engaged even when the car is off. You can try smacking the top of the black box cover of the module which is mounted vertically to possibly make the relay(s) release, but you need a new cooling fan module. On the side of your thermostat, we had a bit of trouble bleeding the air from these models when servicing the cooling system, so you may want to elevate the front of the vehicle and add a coolant funnel adapter with extra coolant in the funnel adapter to aid in burping the air or purging the system. BTW that particular year had a poorly positioned thermostat at the rear of the engine near the firewall. I pity anyone trying to do this job for the first time not knowing the procedure. I am referring to the ECOTECH 2.2 L 4 cyl. Perhaps air pockets are the problem. Then fan is definitely a problem. If you are unfamiliar with either the Coolant Funnel kit , burping air from a cooling system, or the cooling fan module, seek out a trained techinician to make the repairs.

Did you re pave the temp SW or fan sw?

Did you remove the thermostat, fill it up with coolant, then put the thermostat back on, spring side TOWARDS the engine ? Then fill up the radiator , close up the system, start the car, put the heater on full hot, then add coolant through the reservoir. Good luck.
