SOURCE: replace a heater core in 2000 chevy blazer

it is located under the dashboard against the firewall of the passenger seat. i recomend buying a repair manual from your local auto parts store before attempting as it requires draining, flushing, refilling and bleeding the cooling system as well as removing many other componets like the entire dashboard and thermostat

SOURCE: How to replace a heater core in a 1994 chevy 1500

As with all vehicles it seems the first part that they build around is the heater core. It is under the dash above the floor housed in a black plastic sealed box. Sealed with goop. Locate that box and start removing everything around it that is peventing taking the cover off. Of course disconnect the heater hoses under the hood a thefirewall.

Warning it is never as easy as it sounds.

I have a heater core leak on my 2000 chevy silverado V6, is there an easy fix?

You can bypass the heater core, you just wont have heat anymore. On the firewall of the truck, behind the engine, you will see 2 rubber heater hoses that go into the firewall. They attach to the heater core. Disconnect them and get a plastic connector, and connect the 2 hoses together with clamps to hold them down. This will stop coolant from going into the heater core, and no more leak.

Need to know where the heater core and heater control valve are for a 2000 chevy silverado 1500 v8. not sure if it has a heater control valve

The heater core is on the passenger side under the dash within the heater airflow contoller box. If you had Xray vision and could look straight through the glovebox, then you would see it. The heater control vale for the water flow is on the passenger side top of the engine near the firewall. It will have a domed top with a vacuum line to it and it is placed into the heater core supply hose.
