A mechanic is replacing my old transmission with another one. What questions am i supposed to ask him about the transmission once he is done. I don't know anything about cars i'am not a man so i'am turning to this site for advise. Is he supposed to give me a warranty on this one? And is there anything else? Please somebody help me before i go to pick up my car. Thank you.
If the transmission has been remanufactured then there should definitely be some sort of warranty, if it is a used transmission then it is up to the supplier of the trans to decide if there is any kind of warranty. If it is a reputable shop and it is a remanufactured trans then I would expect the warranty to cover parts and labor, but if it is used I would only expect the part to be covered and any labor would have to be paid again if there is a problem. In either case I would make sure that the torque converter seal, rear seal or axle seals, and pan gasket with filter be changed before the new trans is installed.
