First you will need to tell us what the year make and model is. Also automatic or standard transmission and which engine. It will vary from about 4 hrs to 12-14 on some vehicles. Most cars figure 4-6 hrs. Also what is the warranty, have you used this transmission company before? Get several quotes. Check with any agencies that regulate repair in your area to see if the company has any unresolved complaints.

2001 frontier only shifts from first to second and wont shift any further. no noise or other problems. any ideas ? jessy from ellijay

a) Check for the over-ride button to be not in, or
b) Find a trustable mechanic, ask him to open the transmission and check for if the transm-oil filter is clogged, change it. (Well this happened to me way back in the 70's). If the mechanic says you need to replace the whole transm., change mechanic. Or you can do it yourself.

Why would there be transmisson fluid leaking out of radiator?

Radiators on automatics have a separate reservoir for transm. fluid cooling purposes. Didn't you remove the transm. fluid cooling lines from the radiator-a feed line to the radiator and a return line from radiator to the transmission? They are small steel lines that connect on the end of the radiator.

No shock absorbing going on in the front end when hitting bumps & potholes, feels like riding a rigid frame ols school chopper! what part/parts need replacing to renew that absorbing, also seems front...

sounds like it is now time for new shocks. they are not to hard to install if you are mechanically inclined,, if not - if you stop by your local Midas* shop it should only take them about an hour to replace. the cost of new shocks depends on what quality and dependability you are looking for.
always ask about warranty when buying shocks. also when you get your Jeep worked on the mechanics will also be able to tell you how well your front brakes are holding up and most shops will grease all your bushings and they do a good job of getting you up to date on other parts that might need some service in the near or distant future,, always ask questions to stay informed about your Jeep.
Have a great New Year,

Replace floor pan on a 68 vw my old pans are rotted out

So go ahead and do it. It's not clear whether you're actually asking a question here. It doesn't help that you haven't stated which VW you have. Beetle, Karmann Ghia (Type 14 and 34), Variant?

If you're asking whether to do it then the old ones are rotten and need replacing, so yes.

If you're asking how to do it then with respect that's a question far beyond the remit of a simple free question and answer site like this. It's not overly difficult in itself if the vehicle is mostly solid, but you need to be able to weld and you ideally need to remove the body from the chassis. But we're talking of a 41 year old car and only you can see what condition it's in: removing the body (normally an easy job) might not be if the shell is also rotten and the chassis itself may well collapse just behind the front axle tube as soon as the body comes off. Once the body is off it may mean that you're better replacing the chassis entirely. One thing is guaranteed: whatever rust you can presently see will be just a fraction of what's really there.

There are entire chapters of specialist VW restoration books devoted solely to the question you've asked, and so there's no point in re-inventing the wheel. Buy or borrow a suitable book and join the VW owners' club in your country. The knowledge and expert advice you'll gain will far more than repay the financial investment in both.
