My 2000 dodge intrepid will not pick up speed n when it does its very slow. You have to floor the gas pedal to 3 RPM to pick up speed but the car just jolts and goes. We changed the O2 sensor, throttle sensor. What can be wrong?

Hi Wendy,
I'd like to know more 'symptoms' But here's my best guess;....service engine light ON....blinks when car runs the worst..... when you get it up to speed, it runs fine......idle too long, doesn't wanna go!!? Sound familiar? check EGR valve, vacuum solenoid, hoses, sensor -exhaust pipe to EGR valve &/ or the tubes to the sensor could be clogged....Not Your Scenario? Send more info; What engine;fuel injected? Other work done;Fault 'codes' if you can.

You need to take special equipment to read the trouble code's and to diagnose the problem. There is also a danger factor working on them and not knowing what your doing. Your best bet would to be take it some where and have it looked at. http://www.careucar.com/

Check your ht leads ,coil packs are all functional .then check your spark plugs are not fowled.if this is not the cause it will be your egr valve is not opening correctly.buy a diagnostic scan tool of ebay for around $40 it will pay for its self with time . Great piece of kit you can carry in your dash,,,

Vacuume Leaks can cause this problems. you have to do a through check of vacuum hoses and the EGR valve. Your best bet can be to have your vehicle scanned at an autozone store and get a code. The EGR has to be closed at idle, then as the engine warms up or is accelerated, the EGR opens. That is if your car does not have an electronic EGR . The electronic EGRs do not use vacuum to operate. They are controlled by the PCM (power train control Module).

Could be a short in the wiring for the O2 sensor.   I currently have the same issue only my car finally threw a code after two days of it acting up.  Code 106.  Changed the MAP sensor and it now throws 108, MAP sensor high voltage circuit.  Ah the joys of cold weather and broke down vehicles.  But I know that you wont always get a code with a short.  Let me know if you fixed the problem.

SOURCE: 2002 kia spectra has hard time picking up speed

I had the same problem. I changed my fuel filter too.Your catalytic converter is clogged. I could put the pedal to the floor board and couldnt hardly pick up any speed. I could hardly make up a hill on the highway. Take it to a kia dealership and they will, they should replace it for free, they did mine and I didnt have a warranty. I think there is a warranty on that specific part. That's what it is though.

We've have the same problem with ours. We found the fuel canister needed replaces. It's mounted near the back bumper with straps. The part cost us about 125 bucks and was pretty easy to replace. The trick is to get the bolts out without snapping them.

You have a mechanical bind. Disconnect the main linkage and work it all by hand. Everything should be free and slopy. Aerosol carb cleaner will help, but only when the engine is not running.

Just changed timing chain on 1999 intrepid, when i started engine it revs to 4000 rpm and stays their. checked gas pedal, cruise control and throttle body. all seem to be fine

check for a vacuum leak, possibly an electrical component is not plugged in correctly or plugged into the wrong device (idle air control, throttle position sensor, egr solenoid)

(3.2 v6)odometer not working, gas gauge also acting funny. the rpm feels like we are in 2 or 3 gear when we are not.

dear friend-it sounds like your vehicle went into limp mode, you can disconnect the battery in order for the ECU to reset, then if the vehicle feels ok then take it for a diagnostic test

1996 dodge intrepid shifting problems

It probably takes off from a stop very sluggish too. It appears your trans is in fault mode "Limp In". The trans controller sees a problem and can't compensate so it stays in second gear. You need to take this to a transmission specialist that can scan the faults and troubleshoot the issue. If you don't know a trustworthy one then I suggest going to the nearest "Five Star Chrysler Dealer". They will have the technical knowledge and training to effectively deal with it. There is a possibility that the software is more of an issue than internal transmission failure. And do yourself a favor, have the transmission serviced after they solve the issue.
Good luck with that and let me know how it goes.

Envoy 2004 idle speed

Hi
your problem seems very easy :) hope this one work with your envoy. Just buy AC DELCO carburetor tune-up conditioner.

How you use it: engine running , AC off please

1. detached the big black airflow hose which is attached in the mannifold of the engine block.

2. ask your friend to step on the gas pedal and set the rpm steady in 2000 rpm only.

3. then spray vigorously in 8 seconds the inside circle opening of mannifold while your friend steady step on gas pedal with steady 2000 RPM only.

4. after you spray, let your freind continue on gas pedal with 2000 rpm for 15 more seconds.

5. attached back the airflow big black hose to the manifold and you are ready to roll with your AC on.

if this one doesnt work, please scan your envoy by scanner called TECH II. and find out.
