Thank you for you help. You saved me lots of effort, time and money. I was made to believe that this is a common problem with the switch. Any person in Cape Town can get the part at Caryoyata in Stikland. They also fit it for you at no extra cost.

07 road King headlights come on dim along with spot lights on high and no headlight on dim but spots are bright!

There is likely a loose ground on the headlight and it is gaining some grounding current through the spotlight filament. Find the common ground on the frame and remove all of the wires a clean the terminals with emery paper, including the frame area around the attach point. This should restore a solid ground for all the lights.

Both dim headlights will not burn. brights work just fine. checked fuse and switched relays with no result. any other ideas??

Most headlights have two different bulbs: one for regular/dim and one for bright. It's time to replace your headlights.

Dim lights

I had the exact same problem. Everything checked out ok at the garage including the earths. Finally we discovered that it is very easy to push the bulbs in in the wrong position and they will work but they are too dim. There is only one way that they are supposed to fit in, as soon as we got them slotted in correctly - bingo, dazzling headlights!

Alternator failed and blew the headlights 2 qty. dim, 1 qty. bright. Replaced the alternator and the headlights, but the dims don't stay on when the brights are engaged.

Hi:
Normal operation of the headlight circuit is to just have one set of headlights on a time, bright or dim, but not both.
