Remove the road wheels, remove front hub from stub axles, remove the cotter pin nut and drive out the pin, remove the welch plug on the top of the king pin and with a drift drive the pin through the axle, press the old bushes from the stub axle and press in new bushes, ream the bushes till the king pin will just slide in .Then assemble make sure there is no play between the pivot bearing and stub axle use shims if required.

It's been a few years, but isn't it behind a panel that is behind the fresh air duct under the hood? Once you get the duct out of the way you should see a plate that is bolted to the inner fender. Get that plate off and it should just slide right out.

I have a 1939 Chevy ,model # 9JB Solid straight axle

check the tie rod end bearings as one be faulty. Check for worn out king pin bushes.or worn out king pin thrust bearings.

I have a 1989 ford bronco the front end shakes and pops

Is this bronco twin I beam with king pin and bushings or does it have control arms. BOTH avail that year. IF it is king pin and bushing front end.. that is your problem . JUST replace the king pin and bushings
