When the car is warmed up - Driving into an hour trip - The car will no accelerate but catches - Few miles later it stalls during accelerating - RPM gauge shoots up then down - Check gauge light comes on - Takes about 30 seconds to re-start - Hard Start after the stall - I think I smell gas like the car is flooded - Only 21,000 miles

You need to have your engine flushed and cleaned out. One or more of your spark plugs aint firing. You need to replace them all to include the wires as well. If you dont get your engine flushed, you could blow your engine up.

Summary:
VOLKSWAGEN
IS RECALLING APPROXIMATELY 5,000 MY 2008 R32 (5TH GENERATION) VEHICLES.
WHEN CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS ARE ACCOMPANIED BY HIGH AMBIENT
TEMPERATURES, THE FUEL TANK VENTILATION VALVE MAY NOT REMAIN FULLY
CLOSED. IF THIS HAPPENS, LIQUID FUEL MAY ENTER THE FUEL TANK VENTING
SYSTEM AND MIGRATE INTO THE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM, SATURATING THE CARBON
CANISTER. SHOULD THIS OCCUR WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE MAY EXPERIENCE
PERFORMANCE ISSUES (I.E., VEHICLE JERKING) AND THE MALFUNCTION
INDICATOR LAMP (MIL) IN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER COULD ILLUMINATE. FUEL
COULD LEAK FROM THE EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM LEAK DETECTION PUMP FILTER.
Consequence:
A FUEL LEAK, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE.
Remedy:
DEALERS
WILL REPLACE THE FUEL TANK VENTILATION VALVE WITH AN IMPROVED VALVE
FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING MAY 2009. OWNER
MAY CONTACT VOLKSWAGEN AT 1-800-822-8987.

SOURCE: engine running rough
It sounds like maybe yu have a fuel filter that getting plugged up.
To check this, see if you can remove it from the engine, then very carefully blow thru it in the direction the fuel travels, if clean you should be able to blow thru it easily, if not then replace.
The P132 is (E132) .................. Knock Sensor Circuitry Failure .... The knock sensor is what prevent engine ping from low octane. ...
It could also be you just got some bad gas.
You also might try topping off the tank with gas from another place and bring the octane level up if that is the problem.
Hope this helps
Good luck

Hi Alan:
You might have an air or a vacuum leak. This is very common! Open the
hood and listen for a hissing sound when the engine is running. Unmetered
air can enter the engine through a vacuum leak, a dirty airflow sensor
that is not reading airflow accurately, an EGR valve is not closing and
is leaking exhaust into the intake manifold, an EGR valve that is
allowing too much flow.
If it is hard to pinpoint take some brake
cleaner or starting fluid around the intake manifold and vacuum lines
and see if the engine stumbles or if the idle is affected.
Also, your throttle body may be
carboned up and need to be cleaned! This can cause all sorts of idle and
hesitation problems. This is caused by the throttle plate not seating
properly. The First thing i would do is clean out the throttle body with
some throttle plate and intake cleaner and a small brush. Another
common cause would be the Idle Air Control motor. This is very common on
older cars. The IAC motor gets lazy and cant keep up with the fast idle
changes. Also when the IAC motor is out, I rec to check the passages
for carbon build up. If they are plugged they need to be cleaned out.
Possible Causes
Check for air leaks in the Air Induction system (e.g., in the intake manifold)
Check for air leaks in the PCV system and in its related hoses and/or valve
Idle air inlet passage or throttle bore is dirty or full of deposits
IAC valve has failed
MAF sensor is dirty, "skewed" or installed improperly
Throttle plate, throttle shaft or linkage is damaged or sticking
TP sensor is out-of-range or "skewed" high
Hope this helps; also keep in mind that your
feedback is important and I`ll appreciate your time and consideration if
you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Hi keith stinson, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. It might help if you let us know year and make/model of your car.
1993 5.7 Liter Corvette - 19,900 miles - Never had an issue - 50 minutes into the drive tried to accelerate after a traffic light - I would not accelerate - Pumped the pedel few times and it catches with a jerk motion - Car seem to correct itself - Next light About 2 miles away - Stopped and accelerates as normal - Third light, same problem - No acceleration - car stalls - Try to restart about 30 seconds later - Hard start - second time around the car starts - I live about 2 1/2 miles away - Car ran perfect two lights and a hill to climb and not issues - Let the car idle for 5 minutes and it ran perfect - Check oil levels - Okay - First time this happen
