Disconnect all electrical wiring that is attached to the bed then disconnect the fuel filler tube. there is 4 bolts that hold the bed to the frame that you will have to remove. some trucks the bolts are removed from inside the bed and others from under the bed though the frame. then get help to pickup the bed and turn it to gain access to the pump or remove the bed from the frame.

SOURCE: 1997 Chevrolet Silverado Fuel System

Hello Johnholley
I am wondering do you hear the fuel pump when you just turn the key into the on run position not crank just in run and listen and see if you hear the fuel pump run for a second, If you don't hear it you will want to check for power at the fuel tank, and have some one cycle the key while your under the truck with a test light. Hopefully you have power and you hear the fuel pump run. Now if you do hear the fuel pump running then the next thing you will want to check is for spark, It could be the ignition module or pickup coil. check out those thing and I am sure you will be able to figure out whats going on. If you don't get back to me and we can try a few other methods. I sure hope that helps you out johnholley. and thanks for using Fix Ya Bear001

SOURCE: I need to remove the door panel on my 2004 Avalanche

There are plastic clips that hold the door panel inplace .. First look for any hidden screws near the door handle . there might be a little plastic cover that you need to remove with a small screw driver to find the screws.. look under the handle also to see if there are any hidden screws . next take a flat blade screw driver and start at the bottom corner and try gently prying the door panel off . try to stay close to the plastic clips not to damage them by prying real hard .. once you have snapped them loose all the way around .. lift up on the door panel to remove it from around the window lip and out it should come.. holler if you have any problems.. usually The mirrors on the chevys are up above the panel and there is a triangle plastic cover over it on the inside .. it will pry off also gently and there are 3 nuts there that need to be removed .. use caution these fall behind the door panel ... holler if you need more. SOURCE: Fuel pump issue, 2004 chevy avalanche

1s the fuel pump should not be that noisy, and the problem u are describing is a defective/worn out fuel pump, it is taking time to built pressure, replace the fuel pump and don't forget to replace the in line fuel filter as well.

SOURCE: I need to replace the fuel pump in my 2002

I HA NO DIAGRAM BUT IS VERY EASY I THINK YOU WILL HAVE NO TROUBLE DOING IT THE TANK IS HOLDTO THE FRAME BY TWO STRAPS EACH ONE HAVE A BOLT AT THE END YOU WILL NEED A 15 mm DEEP SOCKET, SECURE TANK PRIOR TO REMOVE STRAPS SO IT WOUN'T FALL,LOWER TANK SO YOU CAN DISCONNECT ELECTRIC CONNECTOR AND FUEL LINES YOU WILL NEED A DISCONNECTING TOOL FOR FUEL LINES THIS IS A VERY INEXPENSIVE TOOL JUST PUSH IT IN THE GAP OF LINE CONNECTION AND PULL LINE OUT THE PUMP IS LOCK IN THE TANK BY A LOCK RING YOU WILL NEED TO PUT PRESSURE OR TAP WITH SREW DRIVER OR CHISEL MAY BE A HAMMER AFTER YOU REMOVE THIS RING THE PUMP IS FREE JUST SLIDE OUT. TO INSTALL JUST REVERSE PROCEDURES YOU WILL NOT NEED THE DISCONNECTING TOOL AT THIS TIME. HOPEFULLY THIS HELPS IF SO PLEASE CHECK IT IN CORNER OF THIS BOX IF YOU NEED FURTHER ASSISTANCE I'LL BE HAPPY TO HELP THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME

How do I syphon the gas out of my 2002 1500 Chevrolet Avalanche.

Siphoning gas out of a vehicle can be a hazardous and potentially dangerous task. Additionally, it may be ******* in some jurisdictions. If you need to remove gas from your 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, it is recommended that you consult a professional mechanic or automotive technician for assistance.
If you still choose to proceed with siphoning the gas yourself, here are some general steps to follow:
  1. Park the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine. Be sure to engage the parking brake.
  2. Locate the fuel tank. In the case of your 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, the fuel tank is located underneath the truck bed.
  3. Locate the fuel line. This is the hose that connects the fuel tank to the engine.
  4. Insert a siphoning hose into the fuel tank through the fuel filler neck. Make sure the hose goes all the way to the bottom of the tank.
  5. Use a manual pump or a vacuum pump to start the siphoning process. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions for the pump you are using.
  6. Once the fuel starts flowing, make sure to keep the siphoning hose lower than the fuel tank to maintain the flow of gas.
  7. Continue siphoning until you have removed the desired amount of gas from the tank.
  8. Once you are finished, remove the siphoning hose and dispose of the gas in accordance with local regulations.
Again, please exercise caution when attempting to siphon gas from your vehicle, and consider seeking professional assistance to avoid any accidents or legal issues.

Can I change my fuel pump by removing the bed

Yes you can change a fuel pump by removing the bed, but if you don't have much fuel in the tank it is way easier to just drop the tank all it really is is the heat shield and the tank straps super easy

I have an 05 Avalanche gas is running down from the top of the tank is this the fuel pump or something else?

You'll have to drop the tank to find out, it could be the filler hose or one of the hoses connected to the fuel sender assembly. Another possiblity is if you mounted something in the bed section with self tapping screws you may have punctured the tank.

Hello, on a 2005 Avalanche, there is no serivceable fuel filter, there is a permanant filter mounted on the pump in the fuel tank, and does not require maintenance. Thanks...

1998 chevy k2500. starts but dies.can hear fuel pump when key is turned on and it will start for about a second then dies.isnt keeping fuel flow

Fuel pump. Not cheap and you'll need to remove the bed to change it. Not hard to do. Remove bed bolts and just lift the driver side. If you jump right in it only takes about an hour.

2000 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.0 litre fuel pump

lifting the truck bed off the frame works best if you dont have a lift..take the fuel neck loose from bed and remove bolts holding bed to frame from the drivers side..loosen the bolts on passenger side..raise the bed on drivers side while watching bumper to bed clearance on passenger side.. you should get enough clearance to remove fuel pump from tank

Fuel Pump

The fuel pump is in the gas tank, the best way to do this is to get some friends and remove the bed from the frame. There is i believe 8 bolts that hold the bed to the frame, and don't forget to remove the hardware to the gas tank filler neck. Once the bed is off the frame, you can get to the fuel tank. Disconnect the wire harness and might as well replace the harness since there only $12.00 last i looked, disconnect the fuel line and return line. Remove the fuel pump retainer ring and lift up on the fuel pump sending unit. To install replace the rubber O ring and oil it before installing the new fuel pump sending unit. Install the fuel sending unit retaining ring, gas lines, new wire harness, and filler tube. Good lime also to check the hose to the EVAP since you can inspect them, look for any dry rot to the vacuum lines and replace if needed. Reinstall the bed and use lock tight to the bed bolts or replace them with stainless bolts. Good luck and hope this helps, oh and you might as well change the fuel filter while your have the bed off. The other way is to drop the gas tank which means draining the tank and raising the truck.
