On this problem I learn from the owners manual that the light is triggered by a overheating traction control system and the change in engine mapping is a response to the triggered ESP sensor. I am not accepting that as the ESP has been triggered while straight driving on dry conditions as well as turning during dry conditions and normal temps. My original thought was slippage of the serpentine belt, that can cause slippage of the power stweering system that can cause overheating of the TCS. I replaced and tightened the belt and had success for a while then it intermittently comes on.
Esp can come on , just driving wildly or any tire slip.
the ESP uses brake and throttle and trans controls to limit slips.
that overheating statement is false. pure conjecture.
serpentine belt, why that?
why not use a real FSM book
and a real scan tool, and not work blind, the oper. guide is useless.
"says get it serviced, all other words, not driving badly are useless"
the 20mph is limphome mode. and is serious issue that.
the fsm is here, read that. first , then scan it.
just 4 bucks

now read this carefully the 3 ways it works.
Throttle, brakes or transmission.
http://www.suzuguide.com/suzuki-447.html
if any of the 3 things fail, ESP will be upset,
ESP is last. dead last in the chain of logic.
all most work correctly first.
one thing this is comon failure is DTC for the throttle by wire
if it fails ESP will fail. how can it work with bad precursor systems?
even bad brakes, @!!!!!
why not scan it. all scan tools new can scan suzuki codes
for newer PCM.s
my innova. 3160 does.
truth
you can not fix these cars with out a scan tool.
period. sorry. but that is a fact.
in fact , i usually must drive , scan and log to find most errors.
cant do that at autozoned, not ever.

Here is a site that should help. If I could hook my scanner up I could tell you in minutes if the O2 sensor was working by watching the data stream. the code means you are running lean on the #2 side. This can be caused by a vacuum leak or even a bad sensor. It has to be diagnosed. Read more in this site:

hey there, that car might have a self tensioner pulley,,meaning you find the right bolt and when you turn it one way or another the belt will become loose itself some cars employ that method,,,,

I have the same problem, my 2006 has less than 50,000 miles and light is on....does it really matter, or is the light just somethings that comes on
SOURCE: Suzuki Vitara V6, MAF sensor, white smoke.
i have a simialer problem but i was getting neat fuel out the exhaust as well . i removed the engine because id got a replacement then stripped the old one and as i thought it was a valve timing problem.looking at the engine from the front the cams on the left bank had jumped one tooth out of time so fuel was not being burnt and coming straight through the exhaust.strangely it didnt seem to have a big missfire and idling and smoke got worse when warm.

My wife left the ignition on with the lights on and drained the battery completely. I'm having the exact same problem. Any ideas how to fix it?
