Sounds like it time to replace the heater core. The job is a real pain, but it is doable by the amateur mechanic.

What type of fluid? Antifreeze should be readily indentifiable. As a matter of fact, so should motoroil , P/steering and transmission fluids.Brake fluid would be underneath the car at a wheel position or the left sidefirewall master cylinder location.. Sorry, It takes sight and smell to ID this fluid. Good luck, -Ned-
Ask a neigbor or mechanic to try to identify the fluid and possibly where it is coming from.

SOURCE: my 2001 beetle is overheating, the water jug on

I think I just answered this ::

The usual suspect for this symptom is a leaking head gasket. Check oil to see if has a brownish color. If the head gasket is leaking the coolant is being burned off in the engine as well as coolant is going inot the crankcase (oil).

The fix is to replace the headgasket. More info, let me know.

SOURCE: how much fluid do i

It has a capacity of 5 quarts of SAE 5W30 oil with filter change. The cooling system capacity is 2 3/4 gallon of a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. The 40T40E transmission/torque converter holds a total capacity of 12.9 quarts or 6.9 quarts to just drain the pan and replace the fluid.

Abs lite comes on and engine lite comes on

Check your brake fluid reservior. Should be under the hood toward the back on the drivers side. If your brake fluid is low then you need pads or rotors. If you pads and rotors are good then you have a leak. Also, its not uncommon for the ABS sensors to go bad. Either way since the engine light is on you can go to any Advance Auto, or Auto Zone and they will scan your computer for FREE and tell you what its saying. Good Luck.

How do you check or change transmission fluid on a 2001 Pontiac Grand am GT?

Draining the system is easy,,It can be messy,, loosen the transmission oil pan bolts slowly allowing the pan to drop down fluid will spill out ..Checking the trans fluid , The transmission and fluid must be at 80 degrees celcius..and the car raised level and remove the 10 mm threaded plug at the passenger side of the trans on the tailstock end and if fluid comes out then its at the proper level..add fluid at the red cap located on top of the trans..at the drivers side....good luck
