Sounds like a linkage/cable to me. Disconnect the linkage at the transmission and move the shift actuator by hand to see if there is the same things happening. Don't try to do this with the engine running unless someone is holding the brake inside the car.

Try cleaning the idle speed control valve and the throttle body, then disconnect the battery negative and let stand for 5 minutes and try it.

I have a 1997 Concorde, with a 3.5 L engine and auto transmission. Has approx. 95,000 mi. About a month ago I started the engine backed up 30' and put it in drive and had no movement. Shifted back to...

the mystery of Chrysler transmissions...if fluid levels are good, make certain you have good electrical connections, especially grounds-your electric system is good, I assume-12.5 + volts resting, 14+ volts running at the battery AND the back large post of the alternator?

If so, try disconnecting the battery (clean terminals while you are there, both the battery posts and the inside of the lugs) for a few minutes like 5+, then hook it back up and start it up, let it idle for a few minutes, then drive it gently-adaptive memory of Chrysler ECM's get confused sometimes-hope this helps.

Stick shift

Hi:
The shift pattern is pretty much the same on all 5 speed cars. The top row is the odd numbers, 1-3-5
the bottom row is 2-4-Reverse. The center position is neutral

Here is the key: The shifter is slightly spring-loaded to the center position. If you hold in the clutch pedal and pull the shifter to neutral, and let go of it, it will automatically be lined up in the position, that if you pushed it forward , it would go to 3rd gear, and if you pulled it back, it would go into 4th gear.
This way, to start driving, you start out in neutral, grab the shifter lightly, and push it first to the left, then forward. This is first gear, where you start out. when you want to shift to second, push in the clutch, and keeping left pressure on the shifter, pull all the way back . Here is the easy part, 2nd to 3rd. When you are ready, push in the clutch, and just push the gear shift forward , till it hits neutral, and is spring loaded to the middle. Then you just push it straight forward to 3rd, then next shift, straight back to 4th.
Last gear, 5th: push forward to the neutral row, then Push to the right till it lines up ,and forward to the 5th gear. Reverse should only be shifted into from a dead stop. Find neutral, push the shifter all the way right, then pull back towards you. Hope this helps.
Practice a bunch in the driveway!

94 Chrysler Concorde Tranny Problems

Have your transmission oil filter changed;
it is located under the transmission pan
The oil is what makes the transmission shift
When you shut off the engine it stops the transmission pump then when you start up again the transmission shifts until the filter clogs again
