I need a wiring diagram for a ford engine 289

Basic gap for the 289 and 390 engine is .017 inch.
The high performance 289 is different.

it is in the front of one of the heads or on the block i think it is the left side just above the oil pan or it is on the back of the heads

there should be a bunch of holes all around the block. front back and sides. Its usually self explanitoy unless you have the lille round ones that are slightly dented inwards. If you have that style in your kit, visit an engine machine shop for brass ones. they are much better.

Try this. If the distributor is in the right way, the clips that hold the cap on should be just a hair off of 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock. #1 is positioned at 1 o'clock, which is at the firewall side of the distributor. The firing order is 1-5-4-2-6-3-7-8and is counterclockwise from #1. The passenger's side is cylinders 1-2-3-4, from the front of the car. The driver's side is 5-6-7-8 from the front. Hope this will help.

Yes. It had larger main caps than the typical 289 block. However there are variations on the theme and you could see a smallblock with a 6016 that predates the 289 alltogether (260 or smaller) as well as into the 70s even on a 351 windsor! Hopefully you have a hipo 289 bottom end with the larger caps and thats all you need to know.

* solid or hyd cam
* roller or flat tappet
* valve installed hieght
* rocker ratio
* cam lift

this is just a few things go to a head shop and they will choose the right ones
