SOURCE: reverse went out on my 93 legacy

I have a 93 that had the same problem and drove the car for over a year with no reverse. Just had to watch where I parked it. When it was cold, reverse would work. After it warmed up, no reverse. Clutch disc in auto transmission was slipping. Tried fuilds and filter with no help. Ended up swapping out entire transmission with another good used one and that fix me up. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1994 honda transmission?

Honda uses internally in the transmission,a shift fork, very much like a manual trans,to change from Forward to Reverse, and vice versa. It is likely this fork isn''t moving. The best thing to do is pull trouble codes out of the car,as a malfunctioning sensor or solenoid (they are mounted on the outside of the trans) could cause a problem.Your year Honda is a manual code read, and their is a procedure to follow to get the codes out of the car.Passenger side front kick panel has to be removed,a blue 2 wire connector located, then a jumper wire is used to short the connector out.Insert the jumper wire, then turn the ignition key to the on position, engine off. This puts the car into diagnostic mode. The "S" light,or gear indicator light on the dash will flash a series of numbers, and these are your codes. You have to write down the number of flashes. For example.....2 flashes, followed by 4 flashes would be a code 24.When the codes are pulled, they then have to be looked up on a chart..then the code is diagnosed and repaired. The problem could still be internal, but external causes have to be addressed first.

SOURCE: Transmission stuck in neutral

There are diagnostic pressure tests that can be performed at a shop. Requires special adapters, guages and spec sheet. Most likely trans failure. Possible failed torque converter or front pump.

I have just finished installing a "re-manufactured" valve body on my 2006 MazdaTribute 2.3L and have cycled the transmission fluid and got it to operational temperature. I went to put it in reverse and...

Suggest take it in to have the linkage adjusted.
If the mechanics can't get it to "sync" it means your rebuilt
valve body was junk.
I never repair anything inside the trans since there are only a handful of people on Earth who can work with the complex hydraulics of modern automatic transmissions.
I always replace the entire trans with a new one.

Eclipse goes into reverse but wont go in drive.

Friend, start the engine and let it run a few minutes to warm the trans fluid, set the park brake or block the front of the wheels, put the car in drive position and check the transmission fluid. Sounds like it's just too low for the pump to pick up enough for a forward engagement. Reverse doesn't take much to activate the servo. Most automatics are this way. I'm sure you'll find the fluid is way low and needs the proper fluid added. This may mean you have a slight trans fluid leak.

1986 chevy truck with a brand new trans will go into al forward gears but will not reverse?

this is a mechanical linkage system so if it goes in all forward gears has park and neutral but no reverse and the fluid level is full then you have a bad transmission even though its new it does happen.you will have to get another new trans to replace it.

LOST ALL TRANNY FLUID

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it sounds like you either lost your torque converter or the forward seal on the tranny most likely do to an inner pump problem. All this adds up to a transmission rebuild unfortunately.

Car went put in reverse went forward, then would

I am really sorry to deliver the bad news but the transmission has failed and wioll need to be replaced, the black fluid indicates a forward clutch pack faiure.

Transmission

Check your rear emergency brakes. A brake shoe pin could have broke and the shoe locks up in 1 direction. but not the other. The other problem you mentioned could happen, but if it is in reverse the trans shifted.
