Sounds like your brake interlock is not working. You can manually override it. Check your owners manual, but there should be a small square around the trim around the shifter. Pry up the square and there is a release mechanism to manually release the solenoid. It should be covered in your owners manual how to override it.
I think to replace it you need to take apart the shifter trim.

Either the linkage to the tranny from the shifter is broke or apart, or the internal linkage is broken. can you check the underside of the car and see if the linkage between the shifter and tranny are intact? Have someone move the shifter whil your looking at the linkage, this will tell you whethr it is internal or external.

your having a transmission problem, common problem are the shift solenoids get dirty and won't let it shift, have them taken off and cleaned, they have little screens on bottom of them.change the fluid at same time. clicking noise is normal when you step on brake when in park this click is from the interlock solenoid under center console.
