SOURCE: 1994 CHEVY K1500 BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T WORK TOP CAB LIGHT WORKS

I figured out my problem!
From the VERY BEGINING... I changed my brake pedal switch with a BRAND NEW switch, and the lights still didn't work.

Well, I went back down there with a live wire and touched the contacts..and guess what.. the brake lights lit up!

I got a faulty NEW brake pedal switch!! I went a year with this problem, so learn from my issue, test even your new parts if it doesn't fix the problem to completely rule it out!

I hope you guys figure out what's going on with your issue.

SOURCE: 1996 chevrolet K1500 brake light switch

The parts store had given me a booster for an 88-94 model. The the brake booster rod end clevis would not actuate the switch. After installing the correct part number component it works like a champ.

I have no brake lights on 1996 Chevy Silverado half-ton. Was going to replace switch, but it's a bear. Then I noticed I can hear a relay click when depressing brake pedal, but no lights. It does kick...

Yes the problem could be else where, but first get a volt meter and remove the tail light housing and with the meter have some one step on the brake and see if you get voltage.

1989 chevy 1/2 ton.brake lights or emergency flashers dont work.tail lights an blinkers work.

The Blinkers and the Brake Lights are the same bulb. So check the brake light switch. Flashers use a different flasher unit, than the turn signals

Brake lights dont work but the other tail lights do

Check the brake light switch under the dash attached to the brake peadal arm. It is wher the break booster push rod attaches. Sometimes that switch works loose.

check out the brake light switch located on the brake peddle. Could be out of adjustment or burned out.
